Do we have a bunch of units capable of boarding that Galleon+Galleys stack for a need? I agree it's good to be prepared to repel an attack, but empty transports boats only count for the purpose if there are units in position to jump aboard and get dropped off in a key location.
Also, I'm pretty sure dtay is about to Lib MT, which means Cuirassiers obviously. Should be exciting!

I dont know what Dtay is doing, but why someone will lib MT(i supose is Military tradition) on a map like this?
I think we have about 7 units capable of getting to D-mishi in case of emergency. We could move a couple of Knights closer to the boats to make absolutely sure that we keep the city if Gavagai comes knocking. Those Galleys are still useful if Danashri gets a few more defenders that can board the Galleys and be ferried over to D-mishi. The Galleon has the option of going to Danashri to pick up units (moving in from Babukhan and Mandukhai) and then ferry them over immediately.
As for Mackoti`s question: What dtay chooses as the free Liberalism tech is anybody`s guess. He could go for the Economics Merchant or a big military tech like Chemistry or even Steel. Mil tradition is also an option if he feels like he can punch through our defenses. Muqa`s Shrine is worth close to 100 gpt now!
I`m dead tired now and will play the turn tomorrow.

You're correct that I meant Military Tradition, and of course you're probably also correct that it would be a silly tech to lib. I admit that as soon as I posted that, I started thinking Chemistry might be a more-likely target, and of course there are other possibilities, especially if he thinks he can sandbag it further. Realistically, if he does try to come at us with Cuirassiers, we would defend ... in exactly the same way we'd defend against Knights, just suffering a few more casualties. Which in turn is part of the reason he probably will do something else.
Either way, it'll be apparent soon enough!

Makes sense. My question wasn't so much whether we could get many more units into Daliyetimishi but whether we needed so many ships on hand to transport what we could. A related question is whether we need all those ships to to transport what we need: It's important to be able to reinforce that city, but we have a lot of island cities to our east that might need reinforcing at a moment's notice, as well as our contemplated upcoming (possible) attack. Fortunately we're building more Galleons there already, but if we don't need (or can't use) both western ones, it would be better to send one of them east.

That's incredible! There are so many great things we could do with this empire, even small as it is, if we could be sure we were safe from invasion. Considering we lost three island cities and have the world's two biggest empires on our borders, it's looking pretty impressive even as-is!
As I`ve had a very busy day all the others had already played. So actually I got to play a double turn. The big news is that the world is no longer at peace. Gavagai declared war on Dark Savant! That suits us very well. What do we know about the war? Well, Gavagai has 2 Galleons in our culture that can land forces near any of Dark Savant`s cities there. Also, our Caravel spotted another Ottoman Galleon in the NE (it`s visible on the first screenshot). Of course we need to make sure that Gavagai doesn`t stab us but I think we`re safe for the time being. He double moved us last turn. Our chances of gaining more territory was boosted and we have 5 Galleons in the build queue now. EDIT: A Galleon moved eastwards and is now on the Fort tile next to Oljei Taikhu.
Muqa is building a Galleon as we really can`t have enough of them. Nambui is building an Observatory that`ll finish in 2 turns, helping us finishing Chemistry asap. We could have built more Galleons or other military units but now the hammers are invested in more infrastructure. Also, Oghul Qaimish started a Grocer. It`s really cheap and just takes 3 turns to build. We finish 2 Catapults and a Pike eot. Our first Musketeer was started. We`re certainly building quite a few of them in the coming turns.
Our island cities are preparing for WAR! Having Castles built everywhere will reduce the danger of something terrible happening.
Dtay finished Gunpowder. I think it`s increasingly likely that he wants Chemistry as his Liberalism tech.
Graphs and demos: Our power rating is slowly but surely catching up with dtay`s. There is a nice little gap down to Dark Savant, which will hopefully get much bigger in the coming turns.
Really exciting stuff! Let's see what we can do with it!

It suits Gav a lot better than it suits us. Ethiopia still lacks Gunpowder, and nothing upgrades to Muskets, so unless Dark Savant has been preparing to generate a bunch of whip overflow this turn already, Gavagai's Jannisaries are going to make some really impressive gains in the next turn or two, which wouldn't have been as easy if he delayed.
Speaking of which: Dark Savant will not be getting Muskets out in a couple of turns; he'll be getting Aggressive Oromo Warriors! These are Muskets that start with Drill 1, Drill 2, and Combat 1, with two promotions still in hand! Gavagai's Janns get a +25% bonus against units like Longbows and Pikes, but Oromos will have odds against them (and on our Muskets) even outside of a city on flat ground, and if well-promoted, they'll be nightmares to dislodge from a city, so it's valuable for Gav to strike quickly, before too many Oromos appear.
For our part? We've basically committed to waiting for Frigates. If we had troops already loaded onto Galleons and in position to take advantage of a situation like this, this would indeed be playing into our hands, but ... we don't.
One limiting factor is transport ships on the right part of the sea. We're building several, and one is en route, and another is in the sea, but it's going to be a while before they're in position to let us attack anything with significant force. Another limiting factor is units for defense. We should probably offer dtay and GJ "fish for fish" trades again to learn whether we can afford to pull units off those borders if we do plan to attack. A third limiting factor is Frigates, since I don't see how we're breaking through without a stack of them. Where are we pre-building them, and how? (And when? Are we going to bulb into Chem with the Engineer to save 2-3 turns?)
Another timing issue: The longbow Dark Savant moved out onto Tularian Forest's forest is no problem, but the same would not be true of an Oromo in the same position. I think he'll instinctively keep at least the first Oromo in each city, but once he gets a second, it's going to be difficult for us even to get a beach-head.
Finally: I know with Tularian Forest this is probably a non-issue, but I'm not sure of the geography, so I don't know how much of a stretch Mist would be for Gavagai. We can't take that island from Dark Savant if Gav takes it first!
Yes, those Oromo Warriors will be hard to attack. It`s really annoying that Dark Savant`s UU comes into play right at the time where we`re considering hitting him. But we could have attacked him a number of turns ago if we had planned it in advance. I guess we`ll have to see how the defense looks in 4 turns time (and if Dark Savant does indeed move Oromo Warriors to the tiles next to his cities). They really do get a lot of promotions. Gah, I should have known that already..
Let`s start a number of prebuilds (Triremes) from next turn on, giving us options. Having a decent sized Frigate fleet would be good on this map anyway, even if we decide to call off the attack. I`ll have to come back to the question of which cities are going to build them next turn. Could Gavagai conceivably go for Mist before we`re in position to do so ourselves? Well, it would be a stretch for him (as would capturing Bayan Khutugh or any island city of ours on the eastern sea) but we have no guarantee that Gavagai is satisfied with the mainland cities only. Right now I sort of wished that we didn`t have Open Borders with the Ottomans so that Gavagai gets fewer tactical options.
I think offering fish-for-fish deals to dtay and Joey is a good idea. But let`s wait until a couple of turns (or maybe even a single turn) before our planned attack date. We really don`t want either of them knowing that we`re about to attack Dark Savant, thus misplacing our forces too early.
EDIT: I`m leaning against using the Engineer for bulbing unless we desperately need Chemistry sooner. Our next GP will be born in Borte in about 10 turns iirc.
As Civstats suggested, Dark Savant lost 2 very important cities over the last couple of turns. This is the situation now (we obviously don`t have vision on the tiles). Gavagai took the border city on the Iron tile. Also, he`s running over Dark Savant it seems. The city highlighted in the first screenshot was the one that built Chichen Itza. This war will lead to a massive increase in Ottoman territory. How will Joey (and the other 2 big civs react to this)? Surely, Joey needs to do something soon in order to win this game.
Still, Gavagai has stationed his 2 Galleons right next to Bayan Khutugh. Is he probing for weakness? I still don`t trust him..
Our first queue upgraded Trireme was started this turn. Next turn we have the option of starting 5 or 6 more. Hmm, I think we can squeeze out a t174 Chemistry here, especially since dtay is 2 turning it. Which again leads us to the big question - Which tech is he going for as his Liberalism tech? Steel? That`s scary.. Joey has about 2500 gold in the bank, I have no idea if he`s going for the Education-Liberalism line or purely military techs. Dtay seems annoyingly confident that he`ll get to Liberalism first.
3 Galleons and another Catapult finish eot. Oghul Qaimish started a Musketman, as the Grocer isn`t needed until we save gold again (in 4 turns time) and having the option of whipping out a fresh defender is valuable.
The Apostolic Palace will complete in 3 turns! I can`t wait to have Babukhan back on military builds.
Graphs and demos: Dark Savant definitely took a big hit the last turns. The worst military went down a lot. (Wow, on examination that`s a whopping 200k worth of soldiers dead!)
Joey`s mfg is pretty insane. He`s almost matching the output of dtay, in a Golden Age!
