SHOP and GROUND seem certain. Odd, because GROUND seemed like our next guess for Flop. Are we being pointed in a different direction, or double clued? Several possibilities for the third: A percolator sends the coffee through a PIPE. And makes a distinctive SOUND. Your energy can CRASH a couple hours after coffee and a doughnut. The Girl GENIUS webcomic has a key scene involving coffee, and several callbacks to that scene. Soldiers like coffee, so WAR? Doctors and nurses drink lots of coffee, so HOSPITAL? Neighbors might have a cup of coffee while gossiping over a FENCE. I think the country of TURKEY makes a very strong coffee. Pre-spoilers, I like SHOP, GROUND, unsure. Post-spoilers, it seems like we have a consensus on the first two. I vote TURKEY for a third guess. Point to SHOP Point to GROUND
I think we have enough support for TURKEY next. I still don`t like CRASH and feel that Commodore tried to warn us away from it on this clue. Why would he otherwise clue GROUND again?

In my view, Commodore didn't clue GROUND again but told us that GROUND wasn't one of his intended Flop words. Coffee 3 has all the appearance of a planned clue for SHOP/GROUND/TURKEY, not something Commodore came up with on the fly because we were going astray on Flop. So I take it to mean that we should keep pointing to Flop words.
We could tell him that we are leaning CRASH, pass, and wait to see if we get a 3-word clue next round before pulling the trigger. But that's not necessarily the safer play. It might be difficult for Commodore to give us a 4-word clue to cover everythig in case CRASH is not the final Flop word, but if we point to it now and miss, we'll have the chance to try something like WAR next round.
Sometimes a flop is called a TURKEY?
A common usage for flop is belly flop, whereby kids learn about surface tension. But I don't see any words that really fit a poorly executed dive into a swimming pool. I know a store where you can buy cheap clothing is called a slop shop. Is there a flop SHOP? The rhyme pattern is the same. There's a flop house, a cheap (and disreputable) place to stay. Maybe CRASH fits here? There's also flop sweat. I'm not sure of the definition; I think it has to do with drug withdrawal. I suppose that could point to HOSPITAL? I don't like CRASH, but I don't see anything I like better. I agree with Azoth that we should point to something, and CRASH seems like the best of a bad lot.
