But nobody noticed that a turn split is at hand. The etiquette says as soon as you notice the turn split it is established. I also agree that Ruff did nothing wrong. Maybe a coin flip is the fairest method in this special case.

I always interpreted that to mean the person who notices has a duty to abide by a turn split, not the duty (or the right) to enforce a turn split ... except by declaring war which establishes a turn split

But just in this case Serdoa did abide a turn split, but because Ruff couldn't know this Serdoa was no longer able to abide this turn split.

So I think we both can be blamed for our situation.

As for your other point: I think if the rule is to be understood as you interpret it, that would mean that I just have to be oblivious to my surroundings and the other players and suddenly I'm allowed to double-move everyone - that can not be the intended consequence imo. But that is imo what you would propose: Because Ruff might not have realized (or simply not cared) that he double-moved me he is free to do so? When does "his duty" to not double-move come into play here? Of course you can't abide by that rule if you do not know that your double-move does influence something - after all we can play so fast in this game because we all the time double-move. But I think if you did, it is just fair to go back to the situation before it happened and not double-move.

This has pretty much convinced me. I don't object to a reload.

But I'll let you explain it to Ruff neenerneener

This is my evaluation of the situation as well. There should be a reload. I had hoped for some more senior opinions.

If wasnt a war declaration i think maximum what serdoa should get is a coinflip. If it happens to move first you deserve to win all settlers race? I think coinflip should be proposed. You can say he doublemoved before ruff cause he knew there will be settler race.

He said he double moved earlier to that. Two turns ago.

I've just gotten power back after being in the dark and cold for 16+ hours. I haven't really had time to get the full understanding of the situation, but from the looks of things we had a turn order of Ruff > Serdoa on t107 and 108 and then Serdoa > Ruff on 109 and 110 and now again Ruff > Serdoa on 111, but now its important to Serdoa.

I feel like we've stumbled into a grey area in our etiquette and maybe that needs to be revisited after this game. If Ruff was in the dark to being to a settler race then he did nothing wrong here and will probably feel cheated by a reload just to let Serdoa establish a turn split that he didn't know existed.

Anyway, I'm going to make warm food now because I haven't had that in almost a full day. Don't feel like you need to wait on me if the rest of you have a consensus.

Also, i found Serdoa's comment about the land bridges being left barren as a mistake funny. The short connections were left barren intentionally; the flat connections on the far-side of the inland sea were lush as an intentional contrast.
