[PB75 Spoiler] Ginger and Civac's Outside Context Problem

Civac has kindly agreed to dedlurk me this game, welcome aboard smile

My current shortlist of interest to play this game are CRE/AGG/CHM and maybe EXP with either of the aqueduct civs, thinking Suryavarman of Ottomans and just rush Math, Boudicca of Japan or San Martin of Mongols (We'll see our starting location Rolldice )

I'm also open to suggestion if you have something cool you want to try Civac  shades

Nah, we will just roll with what you want. This list of traits is pretty orthogonal to what I tend to play but Sury of Ottomans and Boudicca of Japan do sound like fun. smile

With the latest circumnavigation version I think EXP is in a good spot, even without pairing with an aqueduct civ.

Ah the age old question, to clam or not to clam
I'll have to do my due diligence and run a test if a hunting start and Agri-AH works but so far it's looking good for EXP Ottomans and early pottery. Not many forests to multiply though. Granary is gonna be key with that green land
Pretty restrained capital by RB standards only 3 resources. Worker micro moving between cow and corn is a bit of a pain but nothing extreme.
Can probably stunt the capital to work cow, cottages and double scientists with a CRE library, passing off clam to a lighthouse city and Corn to whoever. Shaka is also on the cards.

I count 8 forests in BFC, what is your expectation to enough forests?

Reply

I don't necessarily have an expectation for any number of forests so long as it's commensurate with the competition.
However, the strategy I want* to play this game is early math, skipping the bottom half of the tech tree. Ottomans is to make that possible without stunting growth.
There's another situational synergy for early math and that is where you spawn in the middle of a ton of forests, common on some singleplayer random maps or old PBs, I was just lamenting that that particular star did not align.

*Part of this is I want to try something new. In a few of my other PBs I went for forges or monarchy first before the 3Cs. (The exception being my first pb63, where I went for nothing first because I had no tech between turn 60 and 85). So this time I want to try a more streamlined, "meta" build where I ignore the religion line and expensive hammer sinks like forges.
Another part of this is that I expect this game to be very volatile despite what is probably going to be a large map. This makes me want early agency and deterrence traits.
The playerfield is distinctly stratified with some newcomers and some hardened vets. None of the latter seem to be sandcastling folk

What's a holkan devotee?

Holkan is the Mayan unique unit, a spearman that can be built without copper. It enables an early rush, pressuring another player to deny their copper connection.
I’m joking bc SD and GT are both historically aggressive and risk taking players
However early aggro is usually bad because you won’t have the economy to exploit your winnings and the neighborhood will also all profit from the vacuum.
