[PB81] Dreylin vacations in the Isles

T80 -

Unsurprisingly no-one accepted my perfectly reasonable offers of white peace...

Giraflorens offered me peace for L'Escala as I expected. I had done some calculations and worked out that I can get that stack back to GB in time without taking the "expelled from borders" movement acceleration, so I declined. I do have to decide how many units to leave behind in the city and how many to run back on defense. It also takes some Worker juggling to road, but that is manageable.

I also realised that I will have a huge issue dislodging Xist's Vultures if they can occupy the Ivory tile. I don't think I have time to chop it and finish the West Road, so I stacked the current 3 Axes into it. That should be enough to deter and then I can put future Axes into GB to build Fortification. Chariots whipped at Skye and L'nH as discussed. I also 2-pop dry whipped an Axe in GB, and may do the same again next turn. Another issue I'm going to have shortly is probably losing the Gems and that exacerbating the whip happiness issues I'm already facing. Ugh.

Xist is definitely winning this continent ... but will not be making any more advances against me for now:

Chariot took out a trickling in Vulture, but sadly had to be deleted afterwards.

As expected there was no attack, but there was an offer of white peace. Can't accept it though because he had a Worker roading towards Eire and could squeeze a city in with the army he has there would be no chance for me to retake it down the line. So we have to stay at war until I can get the location resettled.

Also I really want to hit his stack. hammer hammer hammer

The last 2 Praetorian losses were unlucky - 85% & 89% - but the stack is now all but gone. I could have eliminated it completely, but I wanted rid of the watching Vulture as well, so I spent the Chariots there. 0.2HP Spear remains and will probably pillage the Pigs before being deleted. Regrouping next turn and working out how to spend Vercingetorix.

L'Escala is currently guarded by 4 Praetorians and an Axe and I will add another Axe on the inter-turn. Gira has not added to his threatening force of 50/50 shots, and in 2-3 turns I will control the Deer and visibility. I offered him a Peace treaty, though he won't see the carnage in the graphs for another few turns.

Cost just pm’d me to ask if we can change our turn order due to his issues reading the log. I told him I thought switching to a 3-way split over a temporary issue is a bad idea, but that I could send him my image of the whole combat log with some comments.

I'm going to hold onto Vercingetorix for a few turns at least to see how things pan out. Ideally, I'd like to settle him in Skye so I can produce 2-promo units there, however until I can settle down the war situation, I might need a more focused influx of XP. Also Skye is going to be working on the Settler to replace Eire for the next few turns, so no rush to start getting the extra promos.

As for closing down the war, Gira currently wants L'Escala back for peace, which I'm not going to go for. I expect that will remain the line while the 2-front war continues, so if I want him to accept a deal I first have to get xist out. As previously noted, I can't sign an enforced peace deal with him until the Eire site is secured, but a Cease Fire would leave that option open. It's worth a try because if Gira sees us at peace and doesn't check the details, he may assume the 10t enforced. (I don't think the log wording is different, is it?)

Everything is in place to refound Eire next turn. No movement from Xist, nor spiking on any of our Power graphs. Gira founded a new city this turn, so their mind is not fully on revenge, but they have had an Axe/Chariot pair sitting 1S of L'Escala for a number of turns - primarily to keep me from trying to chop the forest ESE.

2 things changed this turn: firstly my culture overtook his on the Deer meaning he can't now hit the city directly without a turn in the forest. Secondly, my 2 remaining Chariots arrived to give me decent odds while attacking into the forest:

Definitely some luck involved, as these were 50% and 60% wins, but with the Deer forest cushion, and needed follow-up would not immediately risk the city so I felt it worth the risk. Of course it does remind him that Spears are a necessary component over here too. Anyway, Feeling safer, I have now renamed the city to Mull, and reoffered peace.

Project ICTR is moving forward; WB from Lewis 'n Harris and Galley from GB. Haven't nailed down the Settler yet, though it may have to be Shetland again as non-coastal without extreme whip anger.

I resettled Eire last turn and have started on a couple of Chariots now Horses are back on the menu. GB is putting one of them ahead of the planned Galley for Project ICTR, but it shouldn't delay things as the first Settlers are going to come from Skye & Shetland.

Gira has continued to tie peace to Mull/L'Escala, but has not made any moves and is not stacking up - he settled a new city instead. I have offered a Cease Fire this turn which would free us from turn order and hopefully help turn pace.

So Gira has finished their golden Age without revolting into any other civics. Also, I am now getting a KTB on Construction, so I suspect the attack he has been telegraphing by not taking Peace / Cease Fire will be coming soon with Catapults. I'm still a few turns from getting my own 'pults, but am transitioning back from Operation ICTR to unit builds. If he comes for Mull it will be bloody, but I don't think Xist will join in this time as Power has been flat and I expect expansion is being pushed into 2x civs land area.

Woohoo, time for some overview shots and ... oh.

I had been hoping to get the Stone connected before putting up the Walls - see Anglesey settled this turn on the island - but I guess not.

Also, I'm expecting xist to redeclare (this turn for a 3-way split?):
