The action is on Discord, but we can have a lurker thread here too. I don't have anything clever to add so I guess we'll see what happens after the first turn. I think the adjudication is supposed to be tomorrow morning?

They are using an App instead of a moderator? This means that if someone submits late orders they go NMR at once. I believe that it won't happen though because going NMR is so bad. This also stops you from being believed if give wrong orders (VIE/VEN and BEL/HEL in diplo game 4 here), so that issue doesn't happen in the first place too.

I hope someone NMRs.

Really seems like Adrien is going to get themselves killed largely by being angry at everyone.

Yeah, Adrien's messsaging and approach have just been... bad. He did the most pro-France opening possible, then got surprised that France got 6 centers and he could only get 4 and now he's got a neighbor much bigger than him. He got surprised and angry that Germany supported Russia... which is where Germany has to go for help when E+F are so locked together. He even got angry at Russia for no reason at all - he accused "you happened" to Russia who had nothing to do with France getting 6 centers. His tone calmed down in most subsequent messages, but you never quite get over verbal aggression like that.

My challenge with Adrien is that his messages to Russia and Germany seem to come from a perspective of “why would you assume I’m in an alliance with France” but then his messaging with France seems to be “why wont’t you do what I ask when we’re in such a close alliance.”

It’s a little like a boy who wants to exclusively date a girl but is worried she won’t say yes if he asks directly so he just hopes they’re on the same page and then gets upset when it turns out they aren’t.

That said pindicator gets respect for me for his Germany diplo (really all his non-England diplo) but loses me at his (perhaps now resolved) puzzlement at why England would be upset that the only two things France was asked to do didn't get done and England wasn’t even given notice to that effect.

Well this game shows how much Italy sucks. Your only good target to attack is Austria but then you get smashed because:

Also, seeing MJW let in to Tri for free was so much of a potential bounty if we could get him to turn on you that I zeroed in on trying to make him do that, thinking he would be rational enough to take it on. Then me and scooter would be the closer two of the triumvirate and I stand more to benefit from it. I very much wanted to avoid being a Crassus.

You just say clearly why it is a bad idea for Italy to stab Austria.

I believe Italy gets more points on average than Austria at highest levels because Italy can get draws from bad positions because they are close to the main stalemate line and can wedge in. But such a draw should count for far less, so Italy would still be the worst if they used sensible scoring system.
