New EitB PBEM

Me and coldrain had a little chat and a new game would be welcome.

We should probably wait for possible changes to the mod after the last game. Q will probably collect some thoughts to be discussed later.  So no real hurry to start the game.

But for now checking for potential intrest to play so who wants to play?

If there’s intrest we need mapmaker also. Ref, are you willing to help again? Also settings etc. to be discussed later.

I'm game. I'm still not a fan of lairs, although the multi-turn exploration makes it harder to cheat and possible for someone to declare war to stop the lair pop in extreme cases.

Note that I'm certainly not accusing anyone of cheating in the last game. I very much enjoyed the turn pace and the level of sportsmanship in that gem.

Edit: I like the spawning feature of ruins, barrows, and goblin forts, just not the exploration ability.

Confirming my interest for a new game. Is the target again between 4-6 players?

Also I liked the settings of the previous game, although I'm open for changes if we want to mix things up. Perhaps aim for a slightly smaller map, to make early aggression more of an opportunity (I still think about 15 tiles between starting positions is good)?

I'm willing to play too.
I do need to find a new story title.
I do like the settings in the last games. I'm open towards changes, but in general I like it.

I have newer played the mod and don't have time for really learning stuff, but it looks really interesting. If someone wants a dedlurker to bounce ideas and explain the basics I would be happy to team up.

Sure; I'm happy to mapmake again if y'all would like me to, with the caveat that I can't start working on it until at least next week and the map is likely to be if anything even more nearly random than last game's. Does that work for everybody?

You're welcome to join me if you want. Always nice to see more people get into FFH/EitB, maybe some time in the future you'll be playing also. smile

Yeah coldrain, 4-6 players sounds good to me. We seem to have 4 already but couple more is perfectly fine. Last game with six players the turn pace was pretty decent; the game lasted about 180 days and we played 150 turns. I also agree that the settings of last game were very good. Bigger map tends to favor longer game. Obviously the closer we're to each other the more likely early wars become and the shorter the game might be. I like the idea that there's more space but open to play whatever the consensus among players is. smile

Thanks Ref, your maps have been amazing! I like that your maps feel like they weren't crafted at all, and by that I mean they feel so random and unpredictable that I love it. Of course I can see your touch here and there but compared to previous games (long time ago) with Mirrored maps yours are absolutely brilliant. And don't worry if sometimes there's a mistake here and there, maps of this size are impossible to balance perfectly without mirroring. Also, no need to hurry, take your time, we appreciate the work you do for us (I can say that with 'we' confidently).

I am interested.

Could we have public-only diplo maybe? Like you can send people diplo messages, but it has to be via a thread on this forum? I think this would be fun.

I think this is an interesting idea. I never played diplo games but what I've understood from the past games is that they sometimes took a little bit too much time and potentially make the turn pace worse? And I think there were many offers/deals that were too long like not declaring war for 50 turns or something.

I am ready to try something like that though. How did you plan to do the communication? Do you mean like there would be a general diplo topic and then you could send a message there but obviously it would be in spoilers and only one player whose name is on it was allowed to read it? In that case others can see that communication has been done so it leaks information even without knowing what information has been sent. Would you limit the amount of messages per turn?

I never noticed there's also a chat in game where you can send messages to different players. Could that work also?

EDIT: or did you mean messages that everyone could read?

I think open Diplo means that we post our diplo without spoiler here in the thread.

I'm not sure if the Ingamechat works - diplo screens can send text, but are notorious unreliable.
I don't want a classical (closed) diplo game - to much effort - but I'm open towards Ingame chat or open diplo.
