Indeed, hopefully they won't get there
Killed one warrior on the first turn, severely wounded the other, captured a worker with one build

Question btw, do districts you capture count for inspirations? Like Recorded History's inspiration is "build 2 campuses", I think I already researched it anyway for governor title, but if I didn't, would capturing two city states with campuses count for it?

Got a notification that Greenline has been defeated. Increases my worries - need to hurry up with research of next military techs

Geneva situation
I maybe could've taken it this turn, but as I said, I need to speed up the science, so I take the time to pillage the campus for 1.5 turns worth of beakers. Also their trader going to Cartagena returned to the city and they sent a new trade route to Pindicator, which I take the opportunity to pillage for 50g. Next turn I will be able to buy an archer and get the Machinery boost
Also, interesting that Pindicator is building walls in the new city as the first build. I'm sure he can see my attack on Geneva, and with the mountains that city is well out of Archduke's reach. Is he worried I might attack him once the friendship expires? Or is he planning an attack himself?
Couple of things I neglected to show. Firstly, my newest city
Going to mine around it and suffer from lack of food. I need to get to the banana tile in the south, but really don't want to spend money buying tiles. I think some of my trade routes are ending soon, so will get extra food that way
Secondly, I had some spare envoys, and decided to suzerain Nalanda, for visibility more than for the benefits. This revealed a long piece of land behind the city state - I thought it was at the peak of a peninsula, but no
Cardiff only has contact with me, so no one else found this land so far. Looks like even more backline for me to settle, this is kinda crazy (even if the land is not the highest quality)

What is the suzerain bonus for Nalanda in this mod ?
In the original, the improvment was quite ok (and the 1sr one was giving a random tech, so with a bit of planning was seriously good)

Yeah sounds the same
Quote:Your Builders can now make Mahavihara improvements.
+2 Science and +1 Housing. +1 Faith for every adjacent Holy Site district and +1 Science for every adjacent Campus district. After researching Scientific Theory receive an additional +1 Science for every adjacent Campus. When a player constructs their first Mahavihara receive a random technology. Must be built on flat terrain not adjacent to another Mahavihara.
I don't think the unique improvement is as good for Colombia as it is for civs who don't have a good tile improvement for flatland. Random tech will likely be good later, but not when I still don't have cheap techs like Sailing and Astrology. Right now getting suzerain was mostly for visilibty and era score, and to avoid envoys doing nothing. I will catch up on cheap techs after building up the districts, and then will pop the random tech, assuming I'm still the suzerain

I've been thinking on the state of the game now that Archduke's war with Greenline is over. Despite Archduke now having the land of three players, for now I'm keeping up in most metrics, except science. I expect to catch up as my districts come online and haciendas are placed around plantations. Science should catch up a bit later, when I complete the good campuses I planned - and of course, scaling science too early can be detrimental due to increasing district costs
The real question is, how much time do I have. Is Archduke going to stop and consolidate his gains, or will he march to the next target straight away? Earlier I said that Aztec bonuses don't offer much in terms of economy, but builder charge completing 30% of a district is pretty strong - he can afford to sit back and develop peacefully for a bit. On the other hand, he has the strongest army in the world right now, and could feel that an immediate attack could just give him an unassailable lead
One thing I really wish I knew is how the amount of land he has compares to mine. Do I have enough to stay competitive, or do I have go to war myself?
Now that my scout can go past Geneva, I should get a clearer picture on Archduke's army composition and where it is. My immediate plans involve completing Machinery and Castles, slotting in the cheap upgrades policy card and upgrading my units, building walls in all border cities, maybe building an encampment in Geneva for additional city shots (sinice Archduke will have to go through Geneva if he attacks me by land). I also will need an encampment in a good production city (probably Quito), which would be built-up to Armory, so that I can build military engineers for roads (and railroads later) and potentially mountain tunnels
I do not want to attack Pindicator myself - will be a while before I can attack him without feeling unsafe against Archduke - but I feel I have to have the option to jump in if Archduke attacks him. The real question is, on which side? Would I be able to beat Archduke in a 1v1, or do I need Pindicator to still be around? And if it's the latter, is Archduke in a position to beat us if we team up?
All of this needs answering - in fact, I may go need to build another scout or two, so that I can get a clear picture, after being unable to scout that side of the world for so long
There's also the fact that Pindicator has fallen behind in economic metrics lately - is he going to recover, or will he become easy prey if Archduke and I stick to peaceful development?
