This game took so long to get going I have three others running, two other Pitboss and a Smac Pbem. This is going to be rough.
Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis |

Yeah I would be, I would have signed for this game if I had came back earlier. But regardless seems like there's not much interest right now in PB's so would be interested in teaming up with someone

Sure let's do this then.
I am committed to picking a FIN leader but we discuss the second trait and Civ choice if you want.
Ah sorry for the late response I got busy with finals for a little bit but I had no preference for the leader and civ choice since I tagged on pretty late

Alright, the idea behind the picks is to bulb Theology, build Apo and run a religious economy. Start could be a bit slow. I have rarely played a game without IMP or EXP and considered picking Inca for their cheaper granaries. We'll see how the start goes.
Oh that's a neat idea, down for a monk economy game.
Yeah Elizabeth definitely has one of the slower starts to the game. I think we should be okay though given most of the other players don't have either trait + given the map shape where things are contestable by multiple teams it's not just a settling race.

I am currently looking at the start. Favoured approach atm is to improve all the food sources and grow to size 5. This requires research of Hunting, AH and Fishing and produces a relatively slow settler. However, going for BW faster doesn't seem to work very well either. BW is still late. You don't gain a lot of turns either because the extra commerce provided by the seafood is missing. Still working on it.
![]() There are two very nice city spots with food first ring which can also share capital food. The position I tested with earlier didn't have nearly as convenient expansions.
I think the cities 1 and 2 looks like the correct ordering and city spots. I've done some sims I'll post about below.
Not sure what ordering you were doing the research in but I've found that this ordering of AH -> Fishing -> Hunting works pretty well with popping out a settler at size 4 and getting City 1 settled in on turn 33. Only thing I've found kind of risky with barbs turned on is that with this ordering you can road directly to city 1 saving a turn off the amount of time it takes to found the city. We will have a warrior to guard the worker in case of barb animals but still if we lose a bad coinflip that's pretty disastrous although we can instead build a scout instead of a warrior to mitigate that but not sure if it's worth... The cap can also use the overflow from the settler to build a warrior for MP and times exactly with the growth to size 5. We can get BW in time for a slavery revolt by the time we get the 3rd settler out and just wait awhile for pottery. which I'm okay with since the best cottage tiles a bit further away from the rest of our cities. Let me know if you've found anything better I can post the exact city micro later as well if you haven't found anything better.
