Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Hey everyone

Quiet here lately so here's a bit of content. My gaming lately has been pinball games, real machines at home. I've set up a recording setup and a channel for it.

Here's one good (short) one, and there are several more on the channel if you want to watch some long form games. (Yeah I use a different name there, I'm stuck with T-hawk here since it goes forever back, but that's way too generic to use anywhere else.)

How many pinball tables do you own? And what are your favourite top 3 tables?

Reply

5 at a time, though I buy/sell/trade often and I've been through about 15.

Currently have Venom, Godfather, Foo Fighters, Jack-Bot, Lord of the Rings.

Previously had Avengers Infinity Quest, Star Wars, Rush, Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Bond, Game of Thrones, Deadpool, Iron Maiden, Elvira (the new one), Simpsons Pinball Party, Terminator 2, plus had Monster Bash and Legends of Valhalla on temporary trades. Might be forgetting one or two.

Favorite top 2 are Jurassic Park and Jaws, though I haven't owned the latter yet, it's at the top of my want list and I'll get one sometime. Not sure what I'd put as #3 after those, guess if I had to pick one it'd be Venom, it stands out more than any other.

Do you swap out so much because you want to play new tables until you’ve mastered them? Or are you slowly optimizing your collection towards an end state?
Reply

Yeah, I swap out because I master a game in a few months and then I'm done with it. Most are still easy to find and play in arcades. I keep 5 at a time since that's what my room fits, and that's a good constraint to keep myself from going nuts with dozens. There's no end state collection. Jack-bot is the only one I plan to keep indefinitely, both for personal reasons (it was the game where I first started getting good at pinball, in my college student lounge) and because it's a great newbie teaching table.

This is worth a bump. Lord of the Rings, one of the all time great machines, where Valinor Multiball is known as one of the most legendary accomplishments in pinball.
