Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[PB 85][lurkers] somehow, civ4 returned

Oh, I just missed this game.. after a VERY slow re-start of the PBs over at civforum.de (and honestly getting pissed at some players taking forever for their turns) I thought I'd check out how it's going here, and seemingly I just missed the start here, as you guys are very quick from the get-go.. anyway, happy to lurk and comment smile

Maybe add one additional pass on the northwestern connecting to the red path?

Not sure how the mountain affects the geostrategy of the neighbouring players.  contemplate

per random.org

Start A: BaII: Justinian of the Native Americans
Start B: Naufragar/Tarkeel: Isabella of the Khmer
Start C: Bing / Cornflakes: Mehmed of Egypt
Start D: Yuris: Asoka of Byzantium
Start E: Commodore/Thoth: Kublai Khan of Germany

And starting screenshots with leader / civ aligned with each start

BaII / Start A / Justinian of Natives

Naufrauger / Start B / Isabella of Khmer:

I did make one change to this start - the plains sheep was modified to a plains hill sheep, as wet corn + flat sheep + flat pigs seemed a bit too strong compared to the other starts.

Bing / Start C / Mehmed of Egypt:

Yuris / Start D / Asoka of Byzantium:

Commodore / Start E / Kublai Khan of Germany:

Some final overview shots. I made some minor adjustments, adding some smaller food here and there, moving some resources around, and adding bits of land to make things more even or remove any spots for canals to bridge between the north and south oceans. Regarding civac's comment, you can see that there is one more pass in the mountain range to the northwest, but it was easy to miss in my original screenshot due to the high FoV.

And the WBSave itself if anyone wants to download and take a further look: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2eyym2qtd...36ok1&dl=0

If no one has any further objections, I'm fine with sending out the starting screenshots to players.

If the game is set up as a sequential pitboss, would I need to move player slots around in the WBSave before sending it out for hosting?

Commodore start seems a bit stronger. He has a 4yield tile in second ring plus plains hill start and 4 food sources total while others have 3 and no 4yield tile. Seems stronger than the Khmer start even before your intervention.

Speaking of the Khmer start, the map script spat out a plains pig? Never seen that before.

I can take a look in a few hours.
But only with the general map shape I like this.

Anyway, I think you need to shuffle the player slots if the plan to start as (or convert to) a sequential PB

Each start should have a plains hill unless I missed something. The only start that has a fourth food resource that I can see is Bing's, which has a second ring sugar, which I think is fine as compensation for having less river tiles. I can change Commodore's deer to be flatland not forested.

I think I've seen plains pigs on some scripts but I can edit it to be grass to seem more natural if that's desired

Commodore (at least in the screenshot above) has wheat, deer, fish and sheep.

Other than the already mentioned German start I think the map is fine ?
They kind of wanted a random map, so...

If I understand the Main thread correct, please change player order to
Nauf - BaII - Bing - Yuri - Commodore
Fenn rolled Nauf as starting player

Oh. Good catch! Somehow my brain just skimmed over the sheep being there each time.

Khmer start: changed the pigs to grass, the wet grass corn to wet plains wheat. Overall food yield is the same, just looks more natural.

Egypt: changed the wet plains corn to wet plains wheat. Same yield, looks more natural.

Germany: removed the second ring deer.

No changes to the other starts.

If they are asking for a classical start now do I need to redo the entire thing?
