[SPOILERS] PBEM 8 - WarriorKnight's Spoiler Thread

Well, this looks appealing.

2 food resources (although 1 is shared by the cap), gold and fur, several hills and forests and right next to a river. I don't like that it's 1 tile from the ocean and doesn't allow much space for other cities nearby but that can change as I explore around a bit more.

Demogs:

ad got a tech this turn. I'm going to guess Mining or Hunting since there was a increase of 4000 soldier points globally and 4 turns is too quick for the wheel (I couldn't get it in less than 5).

Also Serdoa didn't build a warrior last turn, either Shoot or mb did. banghead The one of them that didn't build one last turn built one this turn.

Nothing new for scouting T5.

Well ad and mb grew to Size 2. That should mean that the rest of us went worker first but looking at the T4 analysis, Shoot built a warrior but is still size 1. Not sure what to think of that.

Serdoa got a tech with 0 soldier points, the logical choice would be agriculture.

Hmmm, is that an offshore island? Maybe I shouldn't plant my next city 1 tile off the coast if it'll impact island settling. Perhaps 1S of the gold? (although a city which grabs every single resource in sight is a bad habit of mine).

Why is rival minimum still 4000? I've been assuming that's ad I forgot to remember he's grown to size 2. The only other person it could be is Shoot. I guess he didn't build a warrior when ad got a tech but rather ad himself did. banghead

OK, well if Shoot is last in power then the tech he got for this turn should be Agriculture. Although the timing is out a bit so he might be switching his techs around.

Also either ad or meatbalz built another warrior (rival best increasing by 2000). Not sure who though.

So to recap what I've got so far-

-Shoot and Serdoa seem to be going worker first, and both researched Agriculture first although Shoot seems to be tech switching. (I'm also going worker first but I went AH since I start with agri smile)

-ad and meatbalz grew to size 2 while building a warrior first. One of them has finished a 3rd warrior before (presumably) starting a worker. ad went for Mining first while meatbalz hasn't got a tech yet (although I bet that it's BW)

So I do have horses. The place were Mogrika is might be a potential candidate for a city, although it won't be any time soon.

Someone built a warrior this turn. I think it might belong to ad or meatbalz, whoever didn't build a warrior last turn (since the rest of us seem to be going worker first).

T8:

Nothing new in scouting, but another quechua finished. I'll probably send him west or south.

meatbalz finished BW and I think Shoot built a warrior this turn since he seems to be following my build plan.

ad found me. Now he's probably going to choke me with his warrior and I have to worry about Dog Soldiers. Wonderful.

The good news is that he can't really do much thanks to the 3 hammer plant and the peakline. Probably the only thing he can do is either camp on a forest hill or disrupt my worker farming the wheat if he gets that far. I'm sending my current Quechua to the forest hill SSW and I'll have to build another 3 turn Quechua behind it (it finishes before the warrior can enter my capital).

Been busy this weekend, so you get a 3 turn report now. I guess you can expect to see a couple of turns in every post from now on (that's what I seem to be doing so far anyway).

T10:

ad moves the warrior the expected direction of 1E onto the forested hill. I move the quechua 1S as planned.

Pigs complete and end of turn mining comes in and I grow to size 2.

YES! ad decided to stay on the hill and not threaten my cap. That means I don't have to rush finish another quechua and can continue growing.

So my other neighbour has Cataphracts. Wonderful. It's a shame the 2 main builders are on the other side of me, I would have liked at least one nearby.

Anyway, since I'm 2t away from Serdoa's borders when we made contact, I doubt I'll get anywhere if I move into his land. I'll be lucky if that forested hill is still empty by the time I can reach it.

Nothing new domestically, the worker will start farming the wheat next turn.

Everyone else got a tech, this'll be fun. Also Serdoa grew to Size 2.

OK, let's go through everyone:

ad: easiest one, taking 8 turns means that it's BW. Note: keep an eye on the power graph for any Dog Soldiers.

meatbalz: a short tech (4t). He already has Mining so I'm saying Agriculture.

Serdoa: He doesn't have Mining, so the only tech which could take 7 turns is AH.

Shoot: I have Shoot as a suspect for switching techs, so this could be difficult. Fortunately, there is suck a large increase in Soldier points that it has to be BW (also seems to be coming in at the right time for it to be BW).

Also there are 2 more warriors built somewhere. It can't be Serdoa, but 1 of them has to be from ad or meatbalz. This is kinda tricky since Shoot seems likely to have built one if he's doing what I am build wise (which so far seems to be the case), but ad and meatbalz seem to be following the same build pattern too (unless meatbalz has decided to start mass chopping a settler now). I'll just put them to ad and Shoot for now.

And I just realized after ending turn that I forgot to switch EP's completely onto ad. banghead Not a big problem but if he pays attention then he should realize that I have another contact.

T13:

Here's the tactical situation back home:

I've just completed another quechua and have sent him SW. Another one will be built before starting a settler. I'm hoping that in response to 2 quechua's ad will move away but I don't have much hope in that (I only get a 3.7% chance for the first battle anyway). What I want to do is scout out in ad's direction since I'm paranoid about a Dog soldier heading my way, and eventually scout out city spots.

Serdoa built a warrior, bringing his total to three. Everyone has 3 warriors now (except ad who has 4, but I have a feeling that might be wrong).

Also it turns out that both ad and Serdoa have also met someone else since they both increased by 2 EP's last turn. The scary thing is that I can see through the fog Constantinople's 3rd ring with my 2nd ring, which combined with meeting ad on T9 means we're all cramped for space quite badly.

Similar to my capital. No point going for the city as another warrior should be built before I can get there (not to mention that warrior could intervene). I'll probably go and see if I can disrupt the corn.

Another warrior built somewhere. I'll give it to meatbalz as that kinda makes the most sense, although power is starting to not make much sense anymore.

I've been busy, so here is a quick recap of what's happened in the last few turns.

T15 revealed an Indian warrior on Serdoa's corn tile, and Shoot pillaged it the turn after. jive Great for me since now I'll only have to really worry about 1 front for the time being. Sucks for Serdoa though as there's no chance he'll be an early leader. For the forseeable future Mogrika will just camp a forested hill in Serdoa's land as a sentry and to disrupt his empire.

I've given up tracking power now as there's too many things that could happen (those 3 hammer capital can give anyone an easy 3-4 turn warrior). Score is still doable though.

BW came in at the end of the turn, and copper appeared in a nice spot:

Right next to my planned 2nd city. jive

I'm currently unsure whether to found on the spot marked or on the gold. On the gold means I can switch the wheat to the new city, is better defensively and makes the gold unpillageable. Downside is no improved gold tile to work and less space for a filler if/when I want to put one to the North sometime.

Tech path will be wheel next to hook up the copper, then either fishing or pottery. Probably fishing.

Another problem is that I currently have no available escort for the settler. I'm considering letting him go unescorted, since I'm 95% sure Serdoa doesn't have any units scouting in that area, ad hasn't gone past my cap and the other 2 aren't my neighbors. On the other hand this is AW game so that's probably a completely insane thing to do. I'll probably just quickly build another Q sometime.

Thank you for the update. For obvious reason I'm following this game very closely and I appreaciate every update you can make. I wish I could keep up the dialogue, but it is quite hard to do without giving spoiler information out.

Thanks for the comment (although you broke my 14 posts in a row :neenernee)

Anyway, just glancing at the top soldier count means that ad probably has a Dog Soldier online. I hope he doesn't send it my way, although if he does I'm getting axes online ASAP to meet him.

Shoot has fortified his warrior on Serdoa's copper. I'd like to help Shoot defend it but I don't want him to think that I'm going to attack him, so I'll just stay away and choke Serdoa from the S.

Also I think I'm going to settle on the gold since that gets the city up and running much faster.
