Turn 43

Next turn is a big turn. We've whipped spear-settler in AT-AT and Diggerasauraus, and will overflow enough hammers to 1-turn a forge in D (with 40 hammers of chops) and get the forge in A to 92 hammers (we'll just complete it naturally in a couple of turns as we don't want too much whipping there, but if we'd wanted we could have 1-turned the forge there instead).

D will run an engineer for the next 15 turns to pop a great engineer who'll build us the Pyramids in D or in the new city we'll put on the highlighted hill in a couple of turns. It's a crap city, but it's intended to make a peaceful border with Pindicator (so putting 'Mids there will be too tempting to allow for peace...)

The settler from A will end up here. A road and work boat will be in place to make this one contribute straight away, then it's going to be an awesome specialist-focussed powerhouse.

Demos and power. Last turn Cornflakes got the oracle and took an 18 point tech. I thought that Ancient techs gave 6 points, Classical 12 and Medieval 18, but the only Medieval techs he could take are Feudalism (with writing and Monarchy, which seems impossible) or Machinery (which means he's got Metal Casting and might beat us to building Colossus), so I must have got something wrong. We need to meet him and see where known tech bonus gets us.

TBS may have been competing for the Oracle - he's been logging in after anyone gets a big score bump, so hopefully his plans are all in tatters. shhh It would explain his t27-t29 techs - Priesthood is cheap enough to 2-turn.

so TBS is at 8 cities vs our 6? WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THISS?

We'll be on 8 by t46. scared Just didn't want to crater our tech rate before we got Metal Casting.

Turn 45

Here's the 1-turn forge from last turn. This turn Diggerasaurus started running an engineer and hopefully on turn 60 a great engineer will complete the pyramids for us. TBS doesn't get an IND bonus on them, so he's likely to focus elsewhere. Cornflakes put hammers into the Oracle so Pindi and Gav are the likely competition.

Down south this is Gav's peninsula. We need to make plans for a naval invasion purely for PYFT reasons. hammer
[Image: t44%20%283%29.jpg]

Then this is our seventh city, nailing down a (hopefully) peaceful border with Pindicator. It's not a great city, but it gives D some cover. Young Harry is a fan of Octonauts.

Demos and graphs. We got Gav's graphs, so here's a dump of everything we know so far. Pindi built some units and grew into his Buddhist happy cap, while we whipped our demos lead away. We should get back on a par with TBS and Pindi next turn with our eighth city.

Turn 46

Han Solo. Frozen in carbonite? Also note that Pindi settled S of his cow, meaning we can settle rice/crab at our leisure.

We meet Cornflakes and discover that he Oracled Machinery. yikes I don't think he can beat our great engineer eta (unless he pollutes his pool) but we're not the lock for the Colosus that I thought we were.

Demos and power. Pindi continues to build units. I wonder if we need to move a sentry up to his border?

Turn 50

Borders are starting to close in. Cornflakes is our north-western overseas neighbour and he's claimed this fish. frown Gav is our southwestern overseas neighbour and hasn't settled toward us quite so quickly. I'd forgotten how stressful small toroidal maps can be.

Meanwhile enemy units are wandering about. We'll have horse hooked in three turns so we can build a roving defence force, but we doubt TBS has an attack planned (not least because he wouldn't let us see the unit if he did).

One small map quibble. Are these gems supposed to be ours Noble? Pindi and Gav have silver hooked, Cornflakes has gold and TBS should plant his next city for these gems. Ah... is it that we've got furs+ivory, while the others have some combination of fur+metal or ivory+metal?

It probably doesn't matter long-term, especially with EXP markets meaning fur, ivory and whale will get a boost, but with a couple of forges in place right now a metal happy would be really handy. Perhaps someone will trade for our second fur when we hook it in about five turns. Actually, we should offer a trade now - I'll log back in and see if Cornflakes will go for fur-gold.

Demos. Next turn will be our low-water-mark on GNP. We'll be among the first to settle the 9th city and at 0% will be making no cash. Things improve pretty fast as we'll get overseas trade routes and whales with our tenth city on t53, but right now we're a long way behind on tech rate. If we don't get the Pyramids in ten turns then we don't have a great plan for remedying that...

Turn 52

Pindi gave me a bit of a heart attack last turn. He didn't attack, but now we've got enough hammers in units in D and F to make any naval attack unproductive thanks to end-of-turn production.

We're going to try and do the same shock treatment for TBS. Possibly with a warrior or chariot on board.

Because he's been settling up on us. That's a very greedy gems city...

Demos and power. Pindi got Judaism in a city on our border (he should revolt to it to pop the borders next turn), Cornflakes accepted the gold-fur trade and we should get graphs on him in 4-5 turns.

Turn 54

Last turn was eventful - TBS war/peaced Cornflakes and then Gav declared on CF and took a size 2 city that had been around at least 20 turns.  CF has Machinery, but not Iron Working, meaning he can't make crossbows yet, so now isn't a bad time for Gav to attack. It also makes our snagging The Colossus in a couple of turns a little more likely... smile
[Image: t54%20%282%29.jpg]

Also in the picture two workers are improving the fur as Cornflakes (surprisingly) went for the gold-fur trade. Also Iced Solo gets us this picture again:

And Jedi Starfighter finally gave us overseas trade (worth 10gpt) and whales last turn.
[Image: t53%20%285%29.jpg][Image: Jedi%20Starfighter.jpg]

Demos and power. Having part-complete units sitting in queues (four at the last count) is alright for defending, but if we'd rather not get attacked in the first place we need to look a little more spiky.

We get graphs on Cornflakes next turn.
