Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Famous charismatic builds

What is your favourite famous charismatic build? What is the top difficulty it can handle?

I have been recently experimenting with 5 chaos books and artificer warlord klackon. If you get some extra fame from colloseum you can hire a hero with 550 starting experience. Give him pandora box and you will start to see pretty powerful creatures.
Unfortunately klackon has no anti-air so you have to rely on random mercenaries and spells for it.
This does not seem to be viable for phantasm, but I may be able to make it work on lunatic.

Here's the game I just finished. I achieved victory without ever being involved in a war. The score was 10,824.

Master, huge, 1.5x magic, large continents, poor, wet, Plane of Water, Underdeveloped Start, Treasure Impact

Alchemy, Charismatic, Famous, Omniscient, 4 Life & 1 of each other, Klackons

The huge map allowed me to cover my starting continent in cities while mercenaries gave me a fighting force. I cracked a tower on a nearby continent & spread to Myrror. I could have won earlier by attacking another player & claiming their cities. Instead, I ended up casting Time Stop & spamming The Great Unsummoning & Final Wave until the Win button appeared.

Stag beetles can attack flying units thanks to flame breath, so Klackons have one way to deal with flyers. In this game, however, I hardly used Klackon units at all.

I've been thinking about trying this but there's something I don't understand. How did you get Time Stop, The Great Unsummoning, and Final Wave, especially considering your starting books? Just through lairs and towers?

Yes. Treasure Impact in particular makes finding books almost guaranteed if you treasure hunt decently.
