Sitting Bull enviro game

Quote:Bxturtle

At 2am on December 15th, 1890 a tall blue box appears in Sitting Bull's residence.

Expecting his arrest to come at dawn by the US Indian Police, Sitting Bull swiftly summons his most trusted followers. They arrive and debate the significance of this object. Roughly an hour into their debate, it begins to emit a noise such as that of a locomotive.

In a flash of white light they are granted horrible visions of a polluted and desolate earth. More visions come as the light fades. They pick up scattered knowledge to aid them in keeping the earth from this fate.

As their vision clears a massive woodland comes into focus before their eyes. Sitting Bull translates these visions for his followers and begins to instruct them on how to proceed.....

Settings and rules

Quote:* Must be environmentalism the entire game - we start with medicine
* Can build forest preserves from the start of the game - we start with scientific method
* Our capital starts with The National Park

------Restrictions------
No chopping forest or jungle unless its a resource.

------Your map settings------
* emperor difficulty
* Standard map size
* Arboria map script
* speed normal
* no technology trading
* no vassal states

Note I added that my capital CAN'T improve blank tiles it has. Forest preserves evidently give a negligible chance for growth. AND I WANT FORESTS!!!!

So ya friend of mine likes to do these kinds of games about every year or so where we both play a variant game independently and compare. I thought I would share.

If you want to play yourself read no further spoilers ahead.

I was going to try to do a tree based folksong thing, but listen I didn't have time to find good versions ect so fall back to what I know.

Quickish reports. Note I know I make more mistakes in these kinds of games so if you see one SHHHH. Obviously I'm playing super fast turns instead of pitboss turns.

Lets go over early game. I got AH from a hut. This made me race south to insure I got horse. Shaka settled a couple turns or so before me. This made me adjust my spot 1E. I was hoping / anticipating a bit more room.

I then tried to go north "fast". You know as fast as you can roading through a lot of forest, but Joao beat me by 1 turn. I wanted the hill NW of my settler. Being almost certain he would settle where he was I instead went 1SW of where settler is for a still respectable double deer marble city.

Dog soldier not requiring copper relevant this game. Made me feel safer.

Note forest preserves take EIGHT turns to improve. So with all the roading turns ect it was a bit before I started being able to afford the time. First capital one wasn't until T50 ish. I ended up with 10 workers for 6 cities and as you see screenshots you will see a lot of cities still having happiness issues. In general this is a great variant for growing big. Basically unlimited health and happy.

Anyways, I then also lost a race vs Germany (this race wasn't particularly close). I decided not to settle 1st ring on the deer. Having a close border already with Shaka will do things to risk tolerances. I then got a bit of a scare when a small German stack showed up.

Luckily stack then disappeared.

I was going to go north more, but Joao cut me off before I could more than think about it. I did settle a city up there. I hadn't actually scouted Snaketowns deer so I thought this area was pretty blank and I was a little leery of pushing against multiple civs, but after scouting area was still clear and I found 2 deer was an easy decision to push a settler SW.

Note with phil and starting with a national wonder I settled first scientist and academied second.

T101 because

I thought for a bit I was going to culture flip the Zulu city, because Shaka did the avoid culture thing. I was at 97% at one point, but never got a revolt.

T120

Going for MoM to take advantage of tiles. Next GP is due next turn but will obviously wait for MoM to finish. Have to decide what I want to do. Most of the field is around 6 cities. Joao is at 10 however and just landed HG. Thinking of going maces and knights and going after Shaka and then maybe roll into Inca. Note Inca just AP.

What's a FP yield like?
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.

For 8 turns of worker labor you get a MASSIVE +2 gold. And a happy. And in capital with the national park a specialist.

If you are going to play this yourself or you are Bxturtle I would recommend stop reading here until you get well into the medieval period.

We left off about to launch a MoM GA.

The main question was when to launch. Right away or wait to get bureaucracy. Getting it is the obvious play. I decided to launch right away to get to sooner.

I then decided to go for music for the free artist to keep the ball rolling. However, I forgot about caste...... Literally I forgot to switch into it when I started the GA because I almost never use and only remembered when I got bureaucracy.

[Image: 2SNNwHn.png]

This may be the first game I'm in caste for any length of time and honestly probably for a LONG time. I was already pretty sure the 2nd national wonder in capital would be national epic, but caste made it a no brainer.

So ya I actually got a 2nd great person same turn as artist which was turn before the 1st GA ended. So I saved the artist.

I then got a REALLY low odds engineer. I had actually gone to working a spy and prophet for this exact reason. But I was able to get a merchant and scientist before 2nd GA ended and I just started 3rd (using artist as technically I could work a ton of artists, but probably wait a while). Why blow all my GAs early you ask?
