Floody floody muddy muddy somebody please save all my animal buddies.
Seriously. FLOOD WATERS RISING!! Fraces is pissing all over the place. RAIN. Solid walls of sideways rain. Lake is turning into inland sea. I am concerned my home might actually become an island. Always thought it would be nice to have a moat... Water dangerously high. Inland sea actually has some pretty big waves whipped up by the wind. Power flickering. Sky switches from dull gray to witch green. Tornados spotted in area.

That witchy green sky is a tornado sign for sure.
Good luck, Doc. May all your critters survive.

I know all about what a witchy green sky means... Scary stuff. Right now, the sky is witchy green with an odd pink hue. Wind gusts up to about 50 MPH according to my little weather station thingamabob I ordered from Popular Science. The lowlands are toasted. Garden is gone. Been looking through the spyglass, I think the batcave has flooded. That makes me sad. I hope they are ok, they are my friends, and keep me relatively bug free.
This is the worst it has ever been. I am starting to doubt. I still have some time to get out... But I wont. At worst, home becomes an island and I am stuck here for a few days.

Guess the power is still on, at least.
Good luck indeed to you and wife and friends, Doc.

Cable is out. Phone lines still working. Power still on. Gas genny if all else fails.
My creek is a raging river, bringing more water. My creek runneth over, there are no still waters.
Since my last post I have stared out the kitchen window and looked down at what used to be the garden fence. I would say the water has climbed a good 3 or 4 inches since the last posting. One of my neighbors down the road, from what I can understand from the police scanner I keep on, is stuck with his family on the roof. The water came QUICK. He is used to flooding, it usually comes up to about his back porch and does little else. Well, this morning, while he and his bunch slept, the water came in and flooded the first floor of his home. Other neighbors facing troubles as well. Why people build on creek banks and wash outs is beyond me. I know the view is pretty and the sound of the water babbling is soothing... But the sound of your house rending in half as it washes away is not. My home is old. Very old. And solid. And built on a rise. It and the barn sit at the end of a T. House and barn sit on ends of crossbar, driveway is the shaft. I think the driveway will flood and wash out, it sits at one point about oh, maybe 25 or so feet lower then the house. In back of house is a little garden like switchback leading down to the garden where I grow stuff. Probably a 30 or so foot drop. The main road has about a half a foot of water already, not sure how that will do. My numbers guesses are wild estimates. Rain has let up a bit. Still pouring steadily, but, it is no longer raining sideways like it was for most the morning. Calm before the storm? Only time will tell.
Need to go out to the barn and check in on fuzzy and feathered friends, but, must wait for wind to die down a bit. I'll get blown around like a toy.
I am pissed over the loss of my garden
Crap, I think a tree just fell. What a scary sound... The splintering of old wood. Some of these trees are almost Ent-like. Very old. Will be sad if something happens to them

Trees snapping left and right. Or being washed out. It's BAD. It's like when Jerry came through several years back. It's farking nuts.
I think all my special soil I had carted into my garden to make my peppers hotter is going to wash away All my veggies need a boat. My raspberry thicket has partially washed lose. I think it's going to be torn away.
My heart goes out to the folks who have faced worse.
Wont somebody think of the raspberries?!

Anybody else here get flooded out by Frances as that bitch from hell went North to visit Yankeeland? If you did, you have my sincere condolances. I saw pictures of the havoc up North... Sirian, you ok? I know she went tearing through awfully close to your area.
I am still getting runoff on to my lands. Waters still rising a bit, but not as scary like it was. I guess there was some tornados round these parts. Lots of flood and wind damage. Lowlands completely washed out. There are some islands in the inland sea.
Bracing for Ivan the Terrible.
Most of my neighbors have lost their homes. Lots of people here without power. I, thankfully, have mine. It flickered a bit, but didn't go out. Most of the water supply is contaminated. Drinking water scarce. Pumphouse to well underwater. Had water carted in.

I'm fine. My house is on a steep hillside. Would take a Biblical flood to affect me. Like... flood waters fifty feet high. Some in my area may be affected, but only the usual suspects: near streams, etc.
We have not had significant winds, and the rains, I think, have been lighter than expected in my area.
Sorry to hear about people losing their homes.
