I have a post to the RBD ironman rules for D2 classic, I don't know if there exist rules for 1.10, or if we want to work something out that makes sense for the team.

I imagine the group to be a friendly, laid back team whose biggest strength is the way they work together. =)

What timing, just as I was pondering on starting an Ironman or 2 with a small group on bnet.

Someone misread the rule at the AB - It says "A team of typically 3 players, one of each class..." using Classic Diablo as a reference, NOT a restriction on number of players in a team.

I have not looked at the rules for awhile, to see if they fit later patches. Is there anything specific you see that need an update? Just let me know and we can work on it.

And, good luck on your IM ventures. Don't forget to post us some stories smile

I'm thinking Monday nights, not too late, and I would be very very honored if you joined us. =)

It would be fun. However, I would rather play "normal" LoD on bnet - Less hassle and stay in touch with everyone among other reasons (to avoid mods). Is that okay with you? Mondays sounds good smile

Who else would be interested? Shadow? (And probably CB when he gets back online shortly)

I m ight actually be a player, except that I cannot get on until after 8:30PM/2030 Texas International Time, 9:30PM/2130 New Yawk time and 7:30 PM/1930 British Columbia time.

How does that fit with everyone's schedule?

PS: This all assumes that my re install of XP pro on the new HD does not come a cropper . . . as last weekend's did.

I am hesitating, due to a number of reasons.

Firstly and most importantly, my connection in the evenings is still horrendously laggy, and I STILL have no clue what I can do to improve it.
Second, I might not be that reliable a team member, since the family is less than thrilled already about me blocking off Sunday evenings for Slackers and Tuesday evenings for Variant night and my BN characters.
Third, my enthusiasm for the project will be completely offset by my noobishness at Ironman, combined with memory lapses as to what is allowable (despite a recent refresher course on the rules). This could lead to annoyance on the part of team members as I make dumb moves that get them killed.

Arrg, on the timing. I live in Boston now and I usually have 8AM classes. Which means going to bed at 11-12:00 Boston time. I was hoping to get things started at 8:00 PM Boston time (maybe give or take half an hour).

I'm thinking to start this coming Monday. Sundays seem out, both due to other people conflicts and the fact that I have an exam this Monday and a mandatory halloween party next Sunday night.

And re: convenience and mods, there exists a realm for the Seven Lances mod. Very easy. =)

There's a thread about my event on the 7L forums.

First and foremost, be a good community member. Post in the forums and participate in some of the IP games that are constantly being run. Look in the Adventurer’s Camp forum for some games. Post your application for admittance in the Realm Application forum, so we know of your interest. Once you've done that, make sure to get some game time in with the current realm members.

So how long is this process going to take?

You mentioned you were in a 1.09 Ironman team that got to Hell at lvl 60ish. Was it on Bnet, or, does 7 Lance have a better Exp calculation rountine (Unlike Bliz's STUPID Exp Penalty). I was expecting a character entering Hell to be around lvl 50 with BSEP, tho somewhat depending on how many players are in game. How many players you started with, and how many made it through?

Oh, and tell me about Friendly Fire Ironman, how did it go? smile

The 1.09d ironman took about a year, playing every week. I think we started with 8 people (maybe even two games worth, uncertain) and in the end got down to three. (two?) Our last game ended with our sorcie getting killed because she was in talk mode and didn't drink a potion. It was very sad, for a char that had so much work put into it to die like that. I played IronNips, a shockwave/hunger druid. I rarely take on the role of a tank, so this was good experience in being a dependable tanker. The rules we used weren't traditional, so that might have been why we got to such high levels. We didn't repeat any areas, but we might have fought from the waypoint to the next area a few times.

The HC FF ironman was fantastic. I played a sorice, used some lightning, some ice blast, and maybe a little bit of low level static ("stand clear, I'm going to zap him"). The biggest challenge there was the experience sharing; since we weren't partied, he who got the kill got the experience. There were people in the party who were a bit anxious about getting kills, and that left the weaker members behind. We constantly had to do checks to see that everyone was going at about the same rate. And in the case of my sorcie, the barb had to tank, and almost kill the monster before I could do enough damage to make a dent. Another thing that you take for granted are the health bars above your party's portraits. FF doesn't have those, and you have to hover the mouse over your comrades in order to know how they're doing. In heated battle, when you could throw off a glacial spike, say, and freeze things, but you also would chill your teammate... but he wouldn't be getting hit as much...

Mmm. I'd love to do that again. Maybe this summer when I start doing grad school stuff rather than med school stuff.

I also am involved in some D1 ironman games. I really *really* want to kill Diablo in ironman. The farthest we got was level 13, so far. Then we were unable to meet and now one member of the team formatted his drive and lost his char. =(

Re: Seven Lances forums/realm. Register there, post an app saying "Hi I'm KoP from RBD" and you should have access as soon as someone reads it. Those instructions are more geared to people who are unknown to me in the D2 community. I should update that text, as we gave up on the IP games because none of the people on the realm play in them, so we just make sure people read the playing guidelines and give them realm access.
