Huckleberry finally met his nemesis

Huckleberry the Fashion Slave and stubborn non-user of attribute points finally met his nemesis. Up until now, patience and more patience and careful placement of minions has sufficed to prevail.

But this morning, he met his match. He carefully skirted the edges of the Bloody Foothills and the Arreat Plateau seeking the entrance to the Crystalline Passage. (Since he kills so slowly, the point of the expedition was solely to find the Crystalline Passage waypoint before the family woke up.) At the entrance to the the Passage there were three Boss Packs. eek

He whittled away at the first pack (Snow Drifters - Amp Damage and LEB) but the next two moved in right away and nailed him. cry Demon Archers and Ghosts. frown After a stupidly large number of deaths, he gave up and quit the game.

Update:

Stubborn Druid that he is, Huckleberry made another try, of course.

First, another slow trip through the Bloody Foothills and the Arreat Plateau. This time the entrance to the Crystalline Passage was blessedly free of Boss packs, so he made his slow way to the waypoint there, and then backtracked and got the Arreat Plateau waypoint too. Then, disaster struck in the Frozen River. Gloams ! Gloams are just not interested in attacking minions, like other monsters. He died. He retrieved his body and forged on. He died. And it didn't get any better. He died again, and again. Game over - retreat in disarray. cry

Huckleberry resolved that he would just have to avoid Gloams and keep trying. First round: Slow journey through the Crystalline Passage and then there were Gloams in the Frozen River. eek
Second round: Repeat eek
Third round: Repeat eek
Fourth Round: Lag out in the Crystalline Passage and the game is gone. frown
Fifth Round: Finally, a mix of Dark Archers, Frozen Creepers and Succubi. smoke Slow journey, much annoyance with Aliza, who is not always interested in going into battle. (Hey, even a mercenary doesn't have to love battle, I guess.) Eventually, Anya was rescued, and donated a useless hat as payment. At least now he has positive Fire Resist. lol
