Hannibal of the Native Americans

Hannibal: Financial; +1 gold in every tile with at least two gold and Charismatic +1 Happy, +1 Happy from Totem Pole and Broadcast Tower and -25% exp needed for promotions.

Native American starting techs are Agriculture and Fishing

UU is the Dog Soldier, much maligned because of its reduced strength but the +100% against melee makes it the strongest unit in this game excluding horse based units until the medieval age and of course it doesn’t need copper

The UB is the totem pole which gives +3xp to archery units. Not the strongest UB but archers/longbows and x-bows built in a city with barracks and totem pole start at CG2 or the equivalent and being charismatic it does give +1 Happy.

The Start:

Very nice, settling on the stone hill is as close to a no brainer as you can get I think, irrigated corn, cattle, 3 FP, 1 plains hill and three grass hills make this an excellent capital.

It looks like a good city site to the SW of the warrior as well, bleed through on the tiles seems to show either a lake or coast SW – SW of the warrior so the grass hill could be a nice port city if a navy is needed.

Initial Plan:

I’m going to pillage and choke someone! hammer A couple of dog soldiers should be enough to severely stunt someone’s growth, especially if I can pillage any horses/copper/iron early on.

i've been scouting south and east while building two further warriors, one for defence and one for scouting north and west

the eastern scout makes first contact.... Pacal of the Inca :duel:

and the first real contact, i've no real need for a suicide attack at the moment and if the Quecha attacks me i've got pretty goods odds.

this i imagine is causing Pacal a few headaches i wish i'd learnt to do some C & D lol but if Pacal doesnt go hunting - archery or hasn't got horses or copper easily connectable this is going to be painful for him.

my biggest problem will be getting Dogs there quick enough

quick update... as normal lol, i fortified my warrior on the wooded hill to keep an eye on Sun Valley. Pacal moved his Quecha 1 south onto the other wooded hill and fortified and has another Quecha now in Sun Valley

Meanwhile from the NW Willem of the Maya, his warrior can move to attack Greyhawk but his odds are not great - 0.4% on testing but god does not play dice. i'll move the exploring warrior to the west back east anyway.

on tech news BW is in jive and i've got copper just outside the BFC to the south not that i need it for now.

Production wise worker finishes next turn, revolt to BW and lets whip and chop some Dogs

overview of the relation between Greyhawk and Sun Valley, looking at bleed through i'm 99% certain i can get to Sun Valley from the north, now to chop out some dogs and hope WK can't get horses up in time

One dog is off towards Sun Valley using the southern route, another dog completes next turn with another the turn after, i'm now having second thoughts about a northern route to Sun Valley their is one tile i just cant make out

well WK has slow built a settler out of sun valley, i would guess he has copper to either the north or east, Robilar the dog soldier is will be outside sun valley turn 27 while Bigby the dog soldier will be there from the north at turn 29 followed by the next Dog on turn 30 all assuming that the tile i cant see is passable (need a pray smilie lol)

Interesting read. Nice to see someone going for a choke, not too common here at RB.

Why do you keep calling Sun Temple Sun Valley?
I have to run.
