Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

I have met all civs at this time. It is a wonderful occasion. But alas the last civ I met was one whose motives I fear are not the peaceful ones I'm sure we all desire.

ceiliazul about five hours before this post Wrote:Cull of the Super Empire,

Greetings from the Ottobot empire, we have finally met in game. Although we are truly a peace loving civ, you will find that our empires are at war for now. I have a chariot ready to attack your desert hill city next turn.

Another Ottoman chariot on the way, and other civs are moving warriors toward your borders. Your Sumerians are safe from elimination against these forces, but you will likely be pillaged heavily, and left badly weakened.

There is an easier path to peace: I notice you are expansive, and likely have a surplus of workers at this time. If you are willing to part with 2 workers, we will leave your land in peace, and offer an NAP.

If you accept this proposal, move 2 workers to a tile within range of my chariot next turn. The grass hill located 2 South from '99 problems' would be the best spot. You have my word, I will leave with the workers, with no pillaging.

We could also agree to a long term NAP, to allow you space to recover. Even as far as t120 if you like, to give you a secure border during rebuilding.

My response Wrote:For what? You decide mounting an aggressive move trying to secure an advantage on someone you just met. Don't be silly. Also, why would I follow the words of someone who has proven to be willing to take advantage of a peaceful neighbor? Man up, and if its a war you desire we will war, with the greater empire prevailing. But if you want to play hostage, to think to play hooky and to play advantage of those you appear and act weak, look elsewhere.

I would desire peace. I am at your disposal for the next two hours or thereabout after this email. A nice little chat would be nice. However, if you are to prove unresponsive by midnight my time tonight, we shall dance the greatest of dances.

I just mean to inform everyone of all of what I know of the Ottobot Empire, and the limited, tense diplo we had.

We are peaceful with all others, and hope for peace with you someday. Good luck with this war, this "greatest of dances."

Not to detract from all the tense "war" and stuff, but I noticed something fishy in the tech thread.

Catwalk Wrote:I might be a bit slow on turns until Friday, going off on a school camp trip. There should be internet there, but I won't have much spare time. Anyone up for a blitz session Saturday or Sunday?

Catwalk Wrote:I'm afraid the next turn will be my last one, wife wants to go to bed early. Still, I think we did pretty good here and we probably all have lots to digest for more careful planning this coming week. Thanks all for showing up, I'm really enjoying this game.

Catwalk, how on Earth do you balance all this? I have experienced both school (past) and marriage (present) and I can't imagine doing both at once. You go boy/man!

Catnip usually has a calming effect, I guess on certain unruly kittens it can cause a bit too much playfulness. Looks like Ceil and Cull took the massive cat loving a little too literally. Bad kitties!

Fortunately, school is currently a breeze as I've studied some of it before and I only started on this course 2 months ago. And I'm fortunate to have two really good jobs while I'm studying, I'm a church singer (2 services on sundays) and a funeral singer (4-5 funerals during the week). They pay really well for the time spent, so we're able to live on that. It's a small rock we're living on, but it's there.

The wife part is indeed challenging, still working on that one. I've found out that it costs roughly 2.5x more for women to exist than for men.

Dunno about scientific studies, but there is a tax deduction, so there you are.

In other news, catnip is calming? It usually makes our cat high as a kite and a tiny, drugged foot pouncer. Cull and Ceiliazul are merely roughhousing, might as well join 'em in the fun.

If we don't hear anything back from Cull today, I think we have to move on without him.

The war situation:
Cull has 8 warriors left from his initial 17, with my 2 shock axes whittling them down. They are all huddled in his capital while my axes cover the distance from 'Baylife', his razed 2nd city. I have a chariot on the hill near the capital to catch any wandering warriors.

I have killed 9 of his warriors already, and my promoted axes are having surprising success (96% odds) even on hilltop cultured cities.

If we retire Cull, I would like to see someone just delete the warriors and let me take the city. That is the conclusion we were grinding toward, but I guess Cull didn't want to hold out the last 10 turns.

This is a huge loss to me, because by not killing those warriors I'm giving up a Great General. I'm willing to take that loss to get the game moving.

Sincerely,

Ceiliazul

If we don't hear from him today I think we should try to find a temp player who's willing to suffer some swift abuse for a little while. If the campaign against him will be over soon, it might be possible to find a benevolent soul.

I really want to get the game going again, the recent delays risk breaking everybody's spirits. I assume Cull got busy with life, and since he's just waiting to be razed I can't blame him for losing interest.
