I'm not quite sure how this would work. FF team names tend to be too long for cities... famous busts? Top scorers? Might be indistinguishable from "decent RB of the last 20 years."

Yeah, I can probably due that. I don't know much about THH, though - can someone point me to a representative thread? The other three are old warhorses like us so I can handle that no problem.

I went through a couple lists of best team names and is really just pop culture references and bad generic puns. I'm as big a fan of puns as the next guy but I was hoping for something more football related. Or that at least sounds like an intentional grouping of names and less like we just vomited pop culture all over the map.

It feels a little premature to rank the picks without knowing map settings or the like, but when isn't it a good time to give uninformed opinions? So here's a quick and dirty tier list for the picks:


10/10 WOULD BANG

Hannibal of France

Seriously, how did these make the cut? Were there half a dozen Joao of Inca and Pacal of Egypt ahead of them on the list? Every team is going to covet at least one of these picks. Lucky for us, we pick fourth and won't see either. Slight personal preference goes to Hannibal simply because I'm already playing China, but is pick Vicky again in a heartbeat.

WOULD CHAT UP AT BAR
Isabella of England
Ramesses of Ottomans
Catherine of Ethiopia

Hell, even these picks are strong and they're not top tier! Were going to get a strong civ no matter what. Why bother to rank the rest. I mean, Isabella of England and Ramesses of Ottomans read like what people would end up with after a snake pick.

BUTTER FACES

Charlemagne of India
Peter of Germany

All of these have some pretty awesome parts to get you excited. But then you look at the other half of the pick and you just want to put a bag over it. Sexy Egypt has slow Frederick. India is stuck with Charlie. Peter is great but Germany is like playing without a UU or UB. Stiff like this was more like what I was expecting among all 10 choices when the concept was put out in the tech thread.

If I were actually playing I think I'd push for awful Charlemagne of India just because I've never actually gotten to play with FW and I'd like to try it some time. But as a dedlurker its pretty obviously a worse choice than the stuff in earlier tiers.

How the fuck is Vicki of China an option? I didn't really pay attention to the pick method but man, I'd take that over just about anything that didn't involve Pacal or Darius. I have a deep and abiding love for Izzy, she's easily my favorite leader to play. I think I'd take Cathy over Rammer, otherwise I 100% agree with your ranking.

I'm at a loss to decide how FF can translate to a decent naming scheme so good luck to you there.
