Hi,
I have found a small program that can make screenshots in the XP DOS full screen compatibility mode called Screen Thief. It is freeware and can be downloaded here for example. It's not a windows application; instead it's a tiny, pure DOS-based program which has to be run first and which then enables the hotkey ALT-CTRL-T to take screenshots.
What I did was to copy the executable ST.exe into the moo directory. Then, I created a DOS batch file (a simple text file which I called "ST_Orion.bat", but you can name it any way you want, only the ".bat" ending is important) containing only these two lines:
ST.exe
Orion.exe
Then I opened up the properties of the Orion.exe icon, selected the "Program" tab and changed the command line from "Orion.exe" to "ST_Orion.bat".
Now when the icon is double-clicked, Screen Thief will be started before Master of Orion. When you want to take a screenshot, press "ALT-CTRL-T" and the screen will be dumped to the file "OrionXX.bmp" in the moo directory with "XX" being a number starting at "01". You will hear a beeping sound from Screen Thief as a confirmation. The .bmp-files can then be opened and cropped or converted to .jpg in any imaging application.
I have one problem with this, though: After a screenshot is taken, all animations in MoO slow down considerably and I have to save-quit-load to return the game to normal; I don't know why. But that could be a problem specific to my slow computer, as I have experienced small pauses of up to one second during play before.

There are two kinds of fools. One says, "This is old, and therefore good." And one says, "This is new, and therefore better." - John Brunner, The Shockwave Rider
