We can discuss anything about the game here, and lurkers can follow along on the game. Other players are not allowed to open or read this thread, and we are not allowed to open or read the threads of other players. Access to the threads is public but we trust the other players to stay out. In addition, comments related to this game should only occur here, and not be referenced in passing from another game (e.g. I shouldn't comment here in this thread about the PB50 game which I'm also playing).

Have you had a chance to review the change log for the mod, located here: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...#pid708151 There will be a few changes from this like Privateers, Trebuchets, and Longbows ... but for now our primary focus is the leader traits and civs that we will pick from in the upcoming snake pick. I feel like the leader traits are fairly balanced now and will therefore probably pick civ first if we land an early pick. Take a look and let me know what you think. One primary deciding factor is that I intend to pick a combo that is straightforward and doesn't require complicated beelines or finesse.

Uf, a lot of changes in the mod!! I will have to follow and look at that frequently. But I can't figure out what that's mean. More strenght to war or building?
I do not understand the mechanics of choosing (?) civs. I will see and learn on the move. So far I have no idea about the best election.
I have so many questions that I won't boder... But how many cities do you usual build on a regular game?

Mod goals (at least as far as I understand) were to make the various leader traits and civs more balanced. Things like EXP and FIN that were clear favorites have been nerfed, while (nearly) worthless PRO was buffed. High powered units like Praetorian were nerfed, (nearly) worthless UB were buffed. Etc., etc., etc.

Snake Pick for choosing civs/leaders will go first round 123456789 > second round 987654321 ... first pick (#1) on the first round gets the last pick on the 2nd round. Last pick (#9) on the first round gets first pick on the 2nd round.

Number of cities is mostly dependent on the map size, influenced by the number of players. RefSteel as map maker has suggested approximately 60 cities for 8 players, tweaked a bit for adding a 9th player. That gives an average of 7.5 cities/player, and from there we go to war and steal cities from our weak neighbors. Winning player will probably need to conquer at least 2 neighbors and control about a third (maybe half) of the map ... 20-30 cities in this game.

How did you find the Realms Beyond forums? And how long have you been following games here?

Yes, I agree with the need of balance civs and units. I always played with std BTS so I have to get a diferent sensitivity of the game.
The size of map and number of cities sounds nice to me, must be a quite wide an exciting game. I don't like much narrow maps thant makes me feel claustrofobic.

I play Civ4 since 10 years ago. I used to play in an Spanish Forum that organized Pitboss and simultaneous Monarch lvl games . It was fun but I never got to be a good player. There are so many details... These days I play with a friend and looking how to install a Pitboss I found this forum. By the way, several players can connect at the same time to the game, or are they consecutive connetions (based on turns)? Because me and my friend could set up a Pitboss but we couldn't connect at the same time.

Multiple players can log into pitboss simultaneously, as long as you all have the proper configuration. I think this thread has the details: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=7544 (I also recall something about not being able to join a pitboss as a player from the same computer that is hosting the pitboss??? Maybe?)
