I swear my blessed unit with 8 resistance and bless is being turned to stone by gorgons. I am casting healing and their hp is not returning, which means they died to stoning not the damage of the attack. Right?
Is bless supposed to ignore stoning? If yes, maybe the description should say so? I get that it makes total sense for bless to be weak against stoning, but nothing in the game tells you that.

Bless protects from Chaos and Death.
Stoning is a Nature effect, I thought that's self-explanatory as it only appears on Nature creatures, Nature spells, and Nature item powers.

The description says chaos spells death spells and touch and gaze and breathe.
I guess that means it does protect against chimera but not draconians then? The grammar made it sound like the realms only mattered for the spells and that the touch/gaze/breathe defense was separate.
Even the detailed readme doesn't mention this explicitly instead talking about the history of how blocking magical ranged damage was too OP. Which led me to assume that all breathe attacks were fair game.
You're right, when I saw it happen (after the fact) I instantly knew that it didn't apply to stoning, it just doesn't say so anywhere.
Maybe just mention it explicitly here?

Of course I still don't know, the stone gaze on a chaos spawn, does bless effect that? or is that one no as well? Is it only that bless doesn't effect nature sources of touch/gaze/breathe? Or that stoning itself is totally not related to bless effects at all even on a chaos summon? (this game has lots of gorgons in it but no chaos spawn, so this scenario hasn't come up for me in a long time).
edit: While, I have your attention, totally unrelated question about the staff of odin I just found, it's got death on it, but it's a staff, does the death touch apply to ranged magical attacks, or only melee attacks that wizard heroes make? If it only applies to melee attacks made by ranged heroes, and it's a static artifact, maybe edit it?

"Chaos and Death spells, breath and gaze attacks"
means
"(Chaos or Death) and (Spell or breath or touch or gaze attack)"
but people don't normally use () in actual English text so it is easy to misunderstand as "((Chaos or Death) and Spell) or Breath or Gaze or touch attack" which would be spelled the same way.
Fire Breath is a Chaos realm attack, as is Lightning Breath. (in the original game, even ranged attacks had a realm, some units used Sorcery, others Nature, others Chaos ranged attacks and it mattered for bless. Nowadays, the realm of attacks does not matter because spells actually affecting ranged attacks are no longer realm specific.)
The game doesn't have breath attacks from any other realm.
Touch attacks are the same realm that can enchant an item with that touch attack - Exorcise is Life, Death and Life Steal are Death etc.
Gaze attacks are the same as the identical touch attack (Stoning is Nature, Death is Death).
The realm of the unit performing the attack is not relevant. (another thing that used to matter in the original where Bless also protected from normal melee attacks from creatures of the matching realm)
Touch attacks apply to the attack type the weapon is relevant to, this is actually explained in the help of each touch attack. (Staves are ranged)

IMO, the way the help tip is written, it has a double meaning. The way to eliminate the double meaning for sure would be: "... against all spells, breath, gaze and touch attacks that are death or chaos related".

This makes a lot of sense now that you've explained it, but I had no idea about any of that, I didn't realize abilities and attacks had source realms that could be different from the realm of the unit doing it. Still, I do think you should say so somewhere in the readme, the readme is already a giant book another paragraph wouldn't hurt. I agree, there isn't really a good way to improve the in-game description, and like I said, after I saw my mistake, I immediately realized that I'd misread the sentence.

Yes, adding it there makes sense.
I've added "(Reminder : petrification is a Nature realm effect)" to the spell description in the documentation.
