Well, I don't know if you saw it before the message was taken down, but apparently LiPing has already met someone in-game and their discussions are why the game is moving so slowly right now. I wasn't trying to venture into the Spoiler threads, but I can hardly miss reading a message LiPing posts right in the normal community discussion thread. It also seems that someone else, possibly Broker, posted a communication from RBPB2 in their RBPB1 thread, so perhaps that's where the contact was made (?)
Now like I said, we play this game strictly by the rules and don't go looking for unfair advantages. *HOWEVER*, if someone makes a mistake and posts something where they shouldn't, I think it's fair game to make use of that info. (This has been my consistent ruling for all of these games, including the CivFanatics Demogame where I'm sort of a moderator.) What can we learn from this strange exchange?
- The starting positions are quite close together, if teams are already making contact as quickly as T6.
- We can expect someone else to be showing up near our borders in the near future.
- I don't think we go changing our opening strategy, but we don't want to run a no-military gambit for too long either. For instance, we probably can't skip connecting copper and go with cheap warriors for military police.
New turn starting soon, so stay tuned...

Interesting. We could try and make nice with our neighbor, depending on which direction they are, and use them to protect our flank. Time shall tell.
The new turn has flipped over. Feel free to take it if you are able, Sullla. I can't get to it for another 8+ hours.

Well that's always the goal, right? Ally with one neighbor while you take out the other side. Hopefully we can find someone gullible... err, friendly enough to take on that role!
With that invitation, I went ahead and played the turn. We have yet another Calendar resource nearby:
Sugar, silks, and spices, plus the fur at our original starting position. That should be enough to get our cities into the 10+ size range even if we don't find anything else. Remember, we had already talked about going to Calendar fairly early for the Mausoleum; these resources give us another incentive to do so. Seems like it should be our secondary tech goal, after the early push to Literature/Great Library.
The Demographics this turn were nice, because they were easy to figure out. The Jowy/Yaz team got a score increase from researching a tech, and since it took 7 turns for them to complete the research, we know that they either discovered Mining or Mysticism. However, since there was a 2k increase in worldwide Soldier points, we can definitively peg them with Mining tech, likely heading to Bronze Working. (Mysticism research wouldn't make sense either!) The total tech discoveries thus far:
athlete: Fishing
Jowy: Mining
Kodii: Fishing
Mortius: Fishing
Dantski: Hunting or Fishing (I suspect Hunting)
That's half the teams right there. At least one of the remaining teams is almost certainly going for a religion (I would peg Broker as very likely, starting with Mysticism and having done so in the first Pitboss game). Maybe DMOC is doing the same, his team also started with Mysticism, and I wouldn't put it past sunrise either (another Mysticism team). We still need another turn or two to see whether LiPing went for a cheap early tech, since she was late settling. But... there's a good chance that we were the only team that opened with Bronze Working research, which would give us a nice leg up on the competition!
One other minor tidbit: we can confirm that LiPing started on the coast and has 17 land/4 water tiles in her capital.
Still no contact with other teams yet... Where to move the warrior next turn? I think SE again, onto the jungle sugar.

That is some gorgeous land! Lots of lush river grasslands for Levee + Town, and two four-food tiles (Cow, Sugar) to supply enough food for growth, and plenty of forests to chop.
I'd say probably SE-SE with the warrior the next two turns.

Please don't look at how many posts I have at Civfanatics.
Glad to drum up some traffic for you, and introduce the admirably fine folk here at RB to a bit of the MP perspective. BTW, if Sullla made a post on Civfanatics with a link to your site, I bet your traffic would increase 100 fold. He's a Civ4 rockstar! His original succession game from Civ4 has had nearly 600,000 views!

That was kind of a one-time deal, Speaker. I had a full-length Walkthrough written by someone on the development team posted on the same day that Civ4 launched. Then I linked the conclusion of that to the succession game with Sirian, in which we explained most of the game mechanics to an inexperienced audience.
Put another way, I don't think I'm going to crash my website with 10,000 hits again any time soon.

Ah, so that´s whos side I´ve been browsing today
Nice cds you got there from Firaxis, I wnt some for civ5, too
I actually wrote a request to CivFanatics for a post with the argument that my site is not commercial and that I believe its content to be potentially interesting to civ fans in general, hence a post would just promote a valuable civ source. Hope they agree :hat:

Heh, don't sell yourself too short Sullla, I know I found my way here after about 6 months ago picking up civ4 after a long frustrated multi-year break from not understanding the game mechanics/not having the patience to figure it out. Then I typed in "civ 4 bts strategies" one day, found myself on CivFanatics with a link to Sullla's Walkthrough. Short end is i've read through 90% of the writeups there (nice job!) and I can play Prince without getting beat too badly (usually). I know i've seen one or two more posts around to that effect too!
