RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

Mr. Nice Guy Wrote:Here's hoping you had to Google the names. smile

And the workers are from Forbes' list of the 400 richest Americans. I couldn't find a comprehensive list of famous workers, so I figured why not go the complete opposite direction. lol...

Yeah, I had to Google it wink

Nice idea on the workers, I like it.

I have an idea bouncing around in my head about city names. I'll see if I can find time tomorrow to get a real list going.

I can't believe it. This is the third turn I played today, and it is not impossible that we could get in a fourth. Considering that I worked 9-7, that's pretty good. So now that we have finished T19, it's time to update with some pictures.

Starting with the NW, now that Jordan is beginning to explore it. So far, I'm pretty happy with it:

I'm really hoping that the tile 1SW of the "city" hill has food. From what little we know of the area, I think that hill would be the best place from which to take advantage of our silver tile. Plus, it appears to have 3-4 riverside grass tiles to cottage. Jordan will move NW next turn and then move in a generally Northeasterly direction in an attempt to find out more about the area.

Moving on to the south:

William was attacked by a wolf last turn and was barely scratched. I'm tempted to heal him for one turn and then continue exploring. I'd rather not promote him until he is in imminent danger.. and then use combat I unless he is sitting on a forest and woodsman will save him. As much as I want great scouting intel, I foresee us getting more use out of an early chariot or two than our initial warrior. William has been disappointing lately. After healing he will swing south of the peaks and see if there is anything more than desert to our immediate south. Hopefully he will meet a neighbor somewhere down there before coming back home for MP duty in 10 or so turns.

And the east:

Unless BW reveals something more interesting, I think the plains hill SE of the sheep should be the first city we settle. It will be a commerce monster city but will have the ability to help us out in early production with the marble and the 4 hills in the BFC.

What are your thoughts?

My first thought is that it is turn 19, and the current micro plan only goes to turn 21, so I need to make the rest of the micro plan wink

I'm going to log in to be able to get a coherent sense of the land. I'm not entirely sure about settling on that plains hill, but will want to be able to see all the land at once to be able to get a better view.

Finalized micro chart (first post again edited). In making this account for the forest that grew, I actually managed to get the settler out a turn quicker jive I've only simmed up to the point where the first settler comes out.

T1 – T9: Working Plains forest building worker, tech: agri
T10: Switch to warrior. City works sheep (2f 1h 1c).
T11: Switch to worker. City works plains forest (1f 2h).
T12: Agri in. Tech set to BW. Worker 1 (Bill) complete. Worker 1 moves 1N, farms sheep. City set to work sheep (2f 1h 1c).
T16: Warrior 2 done. Farm done. Build set to warrior.
T17: Worker 1 (Bill) moves 2E to river-grasshill
T20: City grows to size two, works plains forest
T21: Warrior 3 complete. Build set to worker. Worker 1 completes mine. City set to work farmed sheep (3f 1h 1c) and river-grasshill
T22: Worker 1 (Bill) moves S-SW, mines.
T26: Worker 1 (Bill) completes mine. City set to work both grass-hill-mines (1f 3h 1c and 1f 3h)
T27: Worker 1 (Bill) moves 1N
T28: BW in. Tech set on AH. Revolt to slavery. Worker 2 (Warren) complete. Build set to settler. Worker 1 (Bill) chops. Worker 2 (Warren) moves 1E. City set to work farmed sheep (3f 1h 1c) and river-grasshill (1f 3h 1c)
T29: Workers 1 and 2 (Bill and Warren) complete chop.
T30: Workers 1 and 2 (Bill and Warren) move N-NW, chop
T32: Worker 1 (Bill) completes chop, Worker 2 (Warren) moves S-SW
T33: Worker 2 chops (Warren), Worker 1 (Bill) moves S-SW
T34: Workers 1 and 2 (Bill and Warren) complete chop
T35: Settler 1 complete. Build set to worker. City works both grass-hill-mines (1f 3h 1c and 1f 3h) (possibly, seems to lower AH time by a turn though). Workers move NE-NE (this can change too, this is just placeholder for now).

By the way, I we were last to play our turns, so I went ahead and played them (I hope that was alright). I wound up moving Jordan S (a lion had appeared to the West) with the anticipation of moving SW next turn. I realized that the warrior we just produced (Karren) could actually defog that area around the silver in as many turns (5) as could Jordan, so it seemed more efficient to have him move quickly North to defog that before moving back to the capital area. Here's the screenie of my moves and the planned moves.

I have not played our next turn, by the way.

I love it. Will take a look in game after I've had a chance to unwind after a long day at work. Family time!

If you prefer, I can take the second turn today.

Well, the baby is down and the wife isn't far behind. So as soon as DIM logs out, I'll log in. It looks like we are in agreement on the plans so it's just a matter of one of us logging in and executing.

Regarding the micro plan posted above, what is the benefit of revolting to slavery on T28 as opposed to while the settler is en route?

Thar be stone! (in a tactically very interesting place, even if it is unattractive at first glance)..

And William is in some kind of danger. I would lean slightly toward promoting to C1. I'd rather not lose a warrior when we don't have plans for another warrior for at least 15 more turns.

I haven't ended turn, I will wait for your input on the relative value of promoting vs. waiting to promote until after the lion attacks.

That's a damn good question wink

I will check it in game (I just did some quick math) but it actually makes a difference in regards to the time it takes the settler to complete (the settler is completed by a worker chop, not by the hammers in the city). At least according to my math, revolting after the settler is produced or before it is produced will result in the settler coming out the same turns. If that is true, I'd rather be revolting while building the settler than while building a worker (which we get a bonus on).

As I said, I will check in game just to make sure my math is correct (I'll actually go do that now).
