[Spoiler] Playing with Magic, Amurites only!

Sorry for still no pictures, it's the first week of uni and it's rather hectic. Will get some out soon.

Anyways, got the winery finished, and settler as well... then i smacked myself, realizing i should have moved the warriors first, and the settler playing catch up =( Could have that second city up 2 turns earlier. Sigh.

I've been thinking and rethinking and thinking somemore, and i realized now that my plan to reach that isle using RoK was a gimmick, and nothing else. That place i want to settle IS HORRIBLE, at least for now. Chock-full of forests, can't work the coasts, no resources till i get an expansion... Especially since that isle has some Str 20+ monster on it...

So i'm going to settle at the two Corn + Ivory + Marble spot instead. Especially since it gets two corn on first ring, + riverside tiles which can be farmed.

Worker + Mysticism out in 4 turns, then i'll swap to God King, build an EC, then Deruptus in capital. New city will finish a monument, then ec.

Yeah that epic guardian makes it a fools mission. The spot south was pretty good, but not worth it anymore.

I haven't actually posted any pictures for a long while, so here you go.

New city (renamed to Mammon), and...

a scorpion. That makes 2 (It doesn't have a promotion, and thus isn't the one who killed Eaglebeak. Makes me think that they were all preplaced.

And my capital.

Size 6, working a lot of stuff. Still waiting for that RoB, but with all the farms RoB isn't really going to hurt...

It looks like your expansion is well-placed for growth, too, with two food resources right next to it...

I'm starting to think that my name can be substituted with "isolated". It's T50 and i haven't seen a single person yet.

Not to mention my low exploration, but damn i'm surrounded by scorpions!

Ok confession. I just entered the lurker's thread by accident.

Somehow i managed to get this PBEM confused with the Doviello win PBEM, and was thinking to myself "why is there somoene posting in that thread", so i clicked it. Then i started reading a bit of bob's comment "this is sareln's".... then i realized.

Sorry about that =(

It's been so long since i've updated, here's one!

Firstly,

Oghma

I've just finished the elder council. The three hammers give more production compared to the four food for the settler, due to god king. 12 turns to Scientist, which will go for an academy. Future scientists will bulb.

Next,

Mammon

I've just finished the second corn farm, so it has ridiculous growth. After monument and max size it'll churn out more workers/settlers.

My 3 workers are currently finished with their duties, they'll move back just in time for mining to get several 4 hammer tiles for my capital (to further reduce settler time).

After mining i can immediately rush to RoK. Here's hoping i get it first!

My next city site is:

By the way, i've just realized i should have settled this first? With a monument it can get two silks, which is far more commerce then i have now... As much as GNP is not important in the early game, it still is for one reason alone: Religion.

Alternatively, i can settle here:

It has no food bonuses, but can work 2 cottons. There's also a fresh water grassland tile there i can farm. Good short term, but do i really want short term stuff, or should i rush for long term?

Finally: Demographics.
First in food, which i should be... what with 3 corn. Rest are all a respectable 4, in the middle. Don't get why i'm 2nd in land area though... i'm not creative, and i only have two cities. Maybe because i only have one coastal tile i guess.

That's all for now... Next turn comes... Orthus!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that cotton city can work THREE cottons, as well as the hill sheep. Shame it doesn't seem to have the immediate growth potential (wet grassland aside) of the other site.

How soon are you planning to get fishing? The double-silk site is half water and has a fish, too.

I know cotton is pretty weak in the long run, but that site seems rather tempting to me. The one problem is that it's not going to have any pre-developed tiles, probably. (The coastal one has a marginal farm it can steal from Oghma...) You could always pre-farm that one grassland anyway, though, since it's already in your borders.

Is there a reason you picked that spot for the cotton city instead of N or 2N? Admittedly, 2N wastes a plains hill and a plains flatland... and loses that silk in its BFC if the other city eventually grabs it. Okay, that's a pretty good rationale for the site as placed.

All in all, here, I don't think I said much, but that cotton city would be pretty tempting if you had roads: two new happy in one city. Knowing FFH, though, you might well have both cities before you get a road network up, although you're bumping into the happy cap as it is. I'd be inclined to go for Cotton just because you get one or two new happy resources.

The cotton city needs to expand culturewise for the third cotton, which i clearly can't do yet... furthermore i don't have AH, so it can't really grow.

But actually, screw it. I think it's still better then the single corn city currently. Need enough commerce for exploration/fishing as well anyways.

Also need to branch into adepts so i can get floating eyes to scout. Think that's my best way to scout, instead of sending out doomed ones.
