I posted this elsewhere last night, thinking I was in this thread:

Tell you what, I'll take one of Brian's gold tiles and give it to you instead.

So it's been 15,880 days or 43 and a half years since the last save passed on? I don't have that long of a life left you know![Image: old.gif]

There's actually some interesting history behind that.

Mist explained it when he helped me set up the tracker for FFH-20.
Ellimist: okay sent it back to you
please look it over and make sure it seems right

Mist: looks fine, I'll put it up and see if it works

Ellimist: thanks

Mist: http://mistbinder.org/tracker/tracker.php?game=ffh20
seems ok, no save in the mailbox so throws up garbage
but it's expected garbage wink

Ellimist: good, good
it better work soon though, we've been waiting 370,000 hours for it

Mist: :]

Ellimist: i just did the math
it's a little over 42 years

Mist: that's the time from first ping in the history of internet wink
29 Oct 1969, the date first two nodes of ARPANET were connected together
most of the software time functions given no argument return time elapsed from that moment

Ellimist: wow
like a pathway to history

Mist: yup

Ellimist: it's like seeing light from stars that was produced hundreds of years ago

Mist: they will probably stop doing that eventually, the time returned is in seconds, they'll run out of memory word length :]

Ellimist: haha
how many bits is the max?

Mist: 32 to be compatible with most of currently running systems

Ellimist: so far we're up to 1.332 billion
and the max is apparently 2.15 or 4.3 bilion

Mist: well, if they manage to phase out all the 32 bit processors over next decade
the word length will jump to 64

Ellimist: which is basically forever

Mist: yeh, pretty much, so it's a ceas of what is faster
running out of time or corporate inertia wink

Thanks. Interesting little explanation that.

If the game comes tomorrow, I won't be able to play it, because I'll be up the country looking at some lads playing hurling. Much eating of ash and drinking of alcahol will ensue.
