RPB3 SPOILERS Bismarck of India (regoarrarr, darrelljs, sooooo, sunrise089)

regoarrarr Wrote:1) I assume we're whipping the aqueduct in KT next turn once the chops come in, and overflowing to the HG?

Yes smile.

I know our GNP sucks, give us 20 turns...

Quote:Hey Ilios / DIM,

As darrell mentioned earlier, holding off on giving us HBR is fine with us. We'll look for it on T75.

Have you guys met Mali or Babylon yet? We are trying to figure out where they are or where their scouting untis might be. Since they are apparently providing some key techs rather soon (Currency / Calendar I think?), we want to make sure to meet them as soon as we can.

Let us know!

Okay draft to England

Quote:Hey English folks!

Since we're in a bit of a standstill what with all the reloads and then sunrise's computer issues, I thought it would be a good time to catch up on some diplo.

We were trying to go over our existing deals and it was looking like you guys were going to be trading us Monarchy? Can you confirm that? Do you know approximately the ETA for it, so we can plan for it over on our side of things?

The other thing we were hoping you might be able to help us out with was trying to meet Babylon and Mali. Since they are apparently providing important techs (Currency and Calendar I think?) we want to make sure to meet them ASAP. So if you know where their cities are or any scouting warriors are, that would be great. We have a warrior down near Krill, as well as a chariot to our west that just whacked the final Sumerian city.

Thanks and PARTY ON!

I plan on saying something similar to Carthage wrt Construction so if anyone wants to change up the wording, now's the time

Sent an email to Carthage, after I spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out who Carthage was.

Felly:
Turn X (whatever the next turn is): 2E, road, cancel (that's the tile west of the sheep - I think she is currently 2S of KT, but if not, adjust)
Turn X+1: 1E, road sheep, complete road
Turn X+2: SE-E, chop jungle on silver, chop completes (4t)

Worker currently at LN:
Turn X: move E, chop
Turn X+1: chop
Turn X+2: chop

Turn X+3 and X+4: Both mine - mine completes. This is identical to if we just wasted 2 turns moving Felly to the silver, and plus gets 2 free roads in, assuming that we can be on the roaded sheep and cross a river pre-Construction and still chop the same turn, which SHOULD work (1/2 + 2 + chop)

Proposed draft to Krill

Quote:Hey Krill,

Seems like things have gotten a bit quiet here. What with all the reloads and then sunrise's computer going on the fritz. But even before that, it seemed like we weren't talking as much. Over here in India, we just didn't know how to handle things without getting a Krill poke every day!!! :-D

If I was a paranoid sort, I'd be worried that you were angling for a way to take us out. I do think that it continues to make sense for the two of us to stick together, as we are collectively the biggest dogpile targets. Hopefully you feel the same way.

In talking things over, I think we'd like to agree to the prophet deal, where you give us 8gpt starting on the turn the prophet is born and ending on the turn you gift a scientist to us. A few questions on it - since neither of us have Currency, what kind of interest were you planning to pay till we are able to actually consummate the deal? Will you be escorting the GPs to/from your land? Do you have an ETA on the scientist - is it a guaranteed for your 200GP - if not, what happens if you don't pop a scientist next? Nothing too major - we like the deal in principle - just want to iron the details out.

The other thing we were hoping you might be able to help us out with was trying to meet Babylon and Mali. Since they are apparently providing important techs (Currency and Calendar I think?) we want to make sure to meet them ASAP. Draft to Rome

Quote:Hey SsS's,

Apologies for the delay in response. With all the delays due to reloads and now sunrise's computer going on the fritz, things have kind of slowed down for us. Plus regoarrarr, our most handsome and debonair teammate, was out of town for awhile and then had folks visiting him.

But nevertheless, that is behind us and here we are, ready to move forward once again!!!

As for Portugal, we are not entirely sure what they are doing, but I'm sure that you understand that even if we knew exactly what their plans were, we probably couldn't share them with you (nor do we really think that that is what you're asking from us). But as for our plans, we are in control of those and we would be willing to at least share with you a bit of our thoughts in that matter, for whatever they're worth.

Our economy is in disarray. When it became clear that Sumeria was making completely unreasonable demands and poisoning our neighbors against us, we turned our civ into a military machine to deal with the problem. Now we would STRONGLY prefer to focus on rebuilding. For an EXP civ, our shortage of granaries is nearly a crime against humanity. So just as you demurred working with us against Sumeria, it would be our preference to remain neutral in any type of hostilities that might erupt.

To answer your CAN-themed questions, no I do not think that you are "unclean" becaues you're not in CAN, and I think the prospects of us working together are solid. We've enjoyed the emails with your team and found that even though we may be on opposite sides, and even when you were telling us things we didn't really want to hear, that you did it with class and honor.

As for the lifetime of CAN, who knows. I could see it lasting all the way till CANT was dead, or I could see it breaking up rather quickly. After all, despite what some have said, it wasn't really the purpose to enter into some game long pact - it was mostly just a way to knock out a lot of the early techs ASAP. But your point is fairly valid in that the longer we work together, the closer that (at least some of us) will probably become. But I'd say you and us have at least as good a working relationship as us and some of the CANaanites.

We just have to find a way to mutually benefit each other. Maybe you can take over the "Exploit" role and be "Military Peddle", where you gear for production and sell your military units for techs. Or maybe something else. In a game like this, we feel like the civ(s) that find the most unique ways to work together will be the ones who profit the most

Hope to hear from you soon

Sent the mesage to Krill and after darrell and I tweaked the Rome draft a bit, this is what we ended up sending

As for Portugal, they have contacted us and shared some (but not all) of their plans, but we've been asked to keep the communications confidential. I'm sure you understand that we can't break such a pledge once given (nor do we really think that that is what you're asking from us). We actually have a border deal in place with Byzantium and are working on a tech trade deal with Maya, so we offer that up as evidence that we are not only willling to work with CANT members, but we're actually DOING it. Our decision to trade with Maya, who after all razed a city of ours!, comes from the fact that we blame our early game diplo issues on Sumeria and not the teams that they lied to (e.g. you).

We just have to find a way to mutually benefit each other. Maybe you can take over the "Exploit" role and be "Military Peddle", where you gear for production and sell your military units for techs. Byz sent a note they wanted to chat. Long and short of it, we can ship them Machinery which we plan on bulbing and they pay us back with Cataphracts. I floated the idea of 2H for 3G/3B but they seemed unsure about it. I think they wanted to trade Guilds back to us, but I basically said it was likely we'd get that anyway from CAN and wanted hammers. Of course if CAN dissolves we can re-visit.

I also asked them not to plan war on the Aztecs, and they asked us not to plan war on Maya or Babylon (which is interesting given they are in CAN (which the Byzantines seem to know)). They seem to want to be long term friends but I basically said let's just let it grow from mutual interests for now. What do you guys thing?

Finally they asked if France was getting attacked. I did not confirm the situation, only said we had never met them but if what they said was true and CAN members were attacking other CAN members we would be very concerned.

Okay current position as of current turn, 1080 BC or T73. I'm guessing on some of these values as I am not in-game and hey the game is down anyways. We'll need to check them once we go in-game. We are working under the assumption that Carthage is racing us for the HG. They got math on T70, and double whipped something on T71 as well as T72. T71 seems like it would be tough for that to be an aqueduct whip, as it would require 40 hammers in the box on T70 (the turn they got math). Certainly possible, but maybe T72. They have stone, but are not industrious, so their forests into HG are 60 hammers vs. our 75.

Aqueduct 10/100, 2 chops coming in, 2 hammers of base production.
Workers:
a) Felly - S-SW of KT
b) Ke$ha - on the hilled forest 2W of KT, with a turn of chop in (T73)
c) YKK - 1E of KT

So the real question is can we get away with 3 forests, or do we need to chop 4. Both Felly and YKK will "waste" turns on T74 (next turn) as neither of them can chop a forest next turn. With 3 workers in the area, we can chop 3 forests (7 worker turns needed not counting Ke$ha's T73 and T74) in 3 turns (EOT77) or 4 in 4 (EOT78 ). If we had one more worker turn,

So the question(s) become, can we get enough hammers in the box to finish it on T77 with only 3 forests. If we are accounting 30 from a whip, and 150 from forests, that means we need 40 hammers in production. So if we assume 10 hammers in now, and we work 2 1/2/0 tiles this turn (before we whip next turn), that gets us to 16, and we have the production turns 74-77, so 4 turns to get 24 hammers, at size 1. Or in other words, no. lol

So we definitely need 4 forests, which means that we want to focus on growth, to try and get it back to size 2 as the HG is built (so it can insta grow to size 3).

But we CAN get the 4th forest on T77, if we use one of our new workers. We'll have one in Happy Hour in what we believe is 2 turns (game is down), and we're also whipping one in Bison Burger next turn. Both of those workers will be done on T75, and either one can make it to a KT forest to chop on T77.

So we have 4 forests, and thus 12 worker turns needed to chop
Ke$ha (5t) - T73-77
Felly (3) - T75-77
YKK (3) - T75-77
New worker (1) - T77

So there's our 12 worker turns. The other thing we'll do is we should be able to delay at least 3 of the forests till T77 - that way if we lose the HG to Carthage (or anyone else), we can save those forests for something else. The only one we might not be able to is the one on the forested hill, since we probably don't want to waste a worker turn there.

I'll whip out a detailed worker plan once we can get in game and verify exact positions. But HG on EOT77 seems pretty doable
