K so on T136 I set research to 50% at -43 gold. I had 43 gold in the bank. I made all my moves and ended turn and that was the situation when I logged out. When I logged in on T137 my research was at 40% and I had 17 gold left with 1 turn to go on Metal Casting instead of it being complete.

What can other players do that will increase my expenses?

T137 is played. Got a natural spread of Buddhism to Alderaan and I manually spread it to Clak'dor VII. Settler complete to send to Jowy and Corellia started on another settler. After this one completes I'll only have 2 more cities to back fill on the mainland and they may wait a while before getting done.

I also spent some significant time planning unit builds for Coruscant, Kashyyyk and Istanbul for the war. I'll update my expected stack within the next day or two.

Did any of your cities grow? Civics expenses are related to total popluation. Also inflation will cause expenses to go up slowly over time.

Other players can reduce your income by closing borders. They can also grow their cities and steal lucrative foreign trade routes. To my knowledge there is nothing another civ can do that will increase your expenses.

Most likely. Does that mean that my costs displayed aren't necessarily what they will be that turn if a city will be growing that turn? Or possibly a few other reasons...

I wondered if it might be an artefact of the trade routes recalculating if someone founded a new city or discovered a new trade route - but no way to test that theory...

Yeah costs often go up but you won't know for sure until the turn rolls over.

T138 played mostly. I'm waiting on Whosit to gift the galleys so I can load them up with Praetorians and Horse Archers to give back to him.

Metal Casting in research set to 0% on CoL.

Nothing really interesting at the moment.

I've got a few minutes so some thoughts.

The plan to attack the Inca is as follows. Rome should declare on T150, hopefully grabbing the first half of the turn.

I declare on T155 (earliest possible due to NAP) and join Rome. I shall have 3 galley's and a Trireme move next to the capital (dance for circumnavigation bonus). The galley's will hold 2 catapults and a mix of units. I haven't decided yet.

My main stack will move from Kashyyyk towards the Hindu Holy city. A couple of 2-movers may branch out to raze Ollyantambo if it's lightly defended.

The main stack will also consist of ATLEAST:

8 Catapults
8 Horse Archers
6 Axemen
5 Warriors
4 Praetorians
2 Chariots
1 Spearmen

The warriors will most likely be upgraded to Spearmen by that time which would give me 6 Spearmen and 0 Warriors.

I'll also have a smaller stack comprised of 2 Catapults and 4 other units on his west flank but will hold back for to cover Yavin IV and Corellia for defensive purposes.

That sounds pretty impressive. If you have the time someday between now and then, a map with the plan sketched out would be really cool (I'm not totally sure how Inca's land is laid out, and yes I'm too lazy to look more than a few pages back in your thread lol)

It's taken me a bit but here it is:

As you can see I'm not entirely certain how the Inca's land is laid out either! I've got a chariot at Ollyantantambo or whatever to scout out the capital and his northern cities.

Starting on the west on either of those purple dots is where I plan on keeping my defensive stack. The Inca doesn't appear to have many forces up north though so depending on what my scouting tells me closer to the DoW it may advance as well. I'm undecided as to which actual spot though as I'm uncertain as to whether or not I want him to see it.

On the east coast you'll notice the black line. My galley's (3 and 1 trireme) will start there on T154 and move on T155. My units will then unload into the forest/furs 1N of the Incan Capital (the big I). I expect it to be lightly defended but we shall see. Rome should probably also have a praet there as well.

The main attack force will launch from Kashyyyk. The 1-movers will stage on the Orange dot and follow the Orange line. The 2-movers will will be on the yellow dot and move along the yellow line. Depending on what is in Olly-whatever I'll have a chariot positioned on the red dot which will be able to strike at it. He's only had a single Axe so far so with me threatening the capital and DINA he may need to abandon it. Who knows.

@Krill:

Regarding my future (and Rome's) declaration of war. Rome should already be at war with the Inca by the time I join so on T154 I only need to move my units into position during whichever half of the turn Rome has right? On T155 I then declare in the same half as Rome and move?

Assuming Rome secures the first half, what if Rome is very quick to play on T154 or T155 and the Inca play shortly after (in the first half still but Rome has ended turn or indicated they have done so) and I haven't had the chance to move? Do I just need to play in the first half (per rbpb3) or do I need to play before the Inca?

Also what would Rome need to do to properly declare on T150 and control the first half of the turn? Does he just need to move in the first half of T149 and then declare and move in the first half of T150? Or again does it half to be before the Inca move?

I'm asking so we can hopefully remove the possibility of any arguments when the DoW's occur.

Thanks,

Athlete
