[Spoilers] Cometh the Messiah - Varn Gosam and the Malakim

T-hawk Wrote:Quick is 67% of normal, rounded down. (Not two-thirds, exactly 67%.) Also, normal starts at 22 food for size 1, not 20.

What would we do without T-Hawk? Thanks again man! smile

So that would make it 14-16-17-18-20-21-22-24-25-26-28-etc

Old_Lion Wrote:Do you think you need to calculate everything to be a top notch civ player?

Well not everything needs to be calculated, but at least in the beginning of the game, it helps to have a plan. This prevents you from making weedy worker moves, researching the wrong technology, etc.
So in short, yes. smile

To see this sort of thing in action, I recommend reading the Pitboss 2 Spoiler Thread of Sulla/Speaker. You can learn a bunch of stuff there.

Old_Lion Wrote:Can someone playing with "feelings" take the better on someone performing detailled calculation ? (diplomacy and incredible luck aside).

In short, not likely... I mean, everyone has a different play-style, but as you read the threads on the forum, you'll notice that the players planning well ahead tend to do better than players who don't.

Anyway, I appreciate the questions, keep em coming... wink

Taken after ending turn:

What?

Yes, I have changed my mind yet again (maybe I'm roleplaying Perpentach), and am heading straight to Mysticism. The hammer bonus was the deciding factor, and I'll need to grow Blue dot before I can work the gold mine anyhow.

Anyway, I blame the Calabim players for giving me too much time to think between turns! lol

Demographics:

Malakim and Balseraphs got their land points for the first border pop. Doviello got land points and increased population to three. This leaves the Lanun, Ljosalfar and Calabim at size two.
I'd need to check the second post of the thread but I think the elves and vampires hit size two a while ago. This leads me to believe they went with two workers. The elves because Elven workers suck, so they need more of them to improve tiles within a reasonable time frame. The vampires because they can increase their population alternatively...

Anyway, I plan on starting the Settler after finishing the Warrior. When River of Blood hits, I'll just build another Warrior while growing back to size 5.

Lots of point increases last turn (T21):

Calabim:

Also got land points for the first border pop, which means all 21 tiles are land. Their capital increased to 3.

Doviello:

12 turns have passed since they last got a tech, so I'm pegging them on Calendar, which means they researched Agriculture on T9. So the hut Mist popped on T1 was either Exploration or Crafting or Ancient Chants.

Ljosalfar:

Founded on T2, so only got their first land points now (fully 9 land tiles). They also increased pop to 3.

Lanun:

Also founded on T2, and got seven points for 5 land tiles (so that means 4 sea tiles).

Amelia's capital is the only remaining city at size 2. Which is logical since she's probably trying to get out that first Workboat asap. She has probably finished her Workboat on T20, and is now working a Pirate Cove (?), while building another WB.

Luchuirp:

Got full points for land, so 21 land tiles.

T22:

Balseraphs:

Jubilee increased to size 4. Serdoa also got a cheap tech, either Exploration or Ancient Chants. I'm thinking Exploration, because his worker is going to run out of things to improve.

I just wanted to show you this shot. This is the Griffon that offed both Serdoa's starting Warrior and my Lightbringer. I'm kind of hoping Skippy plans on staying in the area, in case Serdoa sends a Settler to claim the Dragon Bones. As you can see, he is already Combat 3 (effective combat strength of 6.4), which means Skippy gets odds against a fully fortified warrior on a forested hill (effective combat strenghth of 5.75). It would be a pity if the first Balseraph Settler ends up in the belly of this flying fury, right? shhh

Pity you can't name barbarian units:
"What's that Skip, you pushed young Timmy {Balseraph settler} down the well, not again, you crazy drongo!"

All together now:
"Skippy, Skippy,
Skippy the bush grifferoo,
Skippy, Skippy,
loves to eat me and you".

T23:

C & D first:

Calabim discovered another tech, best guess is Ancient Chants. Lanun discovered either Exploration/Agriculture/Ancient Chants.
Doviello and Ljosalfar both got their border pop land points, and have 21 land tiles each.

I did, and to be honest, I had forgotten Skippy was THAT kangaroo!

T24:

Luchuirp capital grew to size 5, and Sciz has temporarily passed me in Crop Yield.

Lanun got land points, only 11 land tiles, Amelia must be happy to spam those Pirate Coves all over the place... smile

Balseraphs popped a hut, or they popped one on T22 and finished research this turn.

Demographics:

Rival best Soldiers at 23K, Serdoa spamming warriors powered by plains cattle and plains hill sheep.

All those Financial Civs are finally catching up on GNP, can't wait to work that river plains Incense tile... jive

--------------- Breaking News!!! ----------------

A forest has grown inside Malakim borders! Royal Dendrologists have been sent out to examine this extraordinary phenomenon! More later!

------------------------------------------------

Also...

A dwarf (dwarven? stuntie?) Scout has appeared on the plains reagents to my west. This means Sciz will get a good view of Yellow Dot (you know, the one containing the Lizard Ruins). I'm pretty sure I can beat him to Blue Dot, but I might have to resort to unorthodox measures to get those grubby dwarf (pixie? shortie?) hands off my Promised Land...

Still no T26 save, so I might as well give a little T25 update:

Doviello and Ljosalfar capitals both grew to size 4, and the elves discovered a tech as well. Only ten turns have passed since they last discovered a technology, and I'm thinking Calendar?

Balseraph capital grew to size 5, and...

Crazy coot Perpentach switched traits to Financial/Philosophical/Expansive...

So that's cheap Elder Councils, Markets AND Granaries...

Sigh...
