I would hazard a guess that an expansive player is building a settler at size 3 working the sheep, pig and windmill.

Wait, so in FFH Expansive bonuses are seen? In base BTS temporary boosts don't get shown. I figured it was just the elf forests.

I don't think there has been enough time to get to size 5. Commodore has probably hit the nail on the head re the elves. Mist gave them a couple of forests under some of their improvements.

Edit - under the sheep and windmill

Well , i think that 2 forest which elves got its worht not only 2 production, but 1 health too which i think its alot in this setup.

As far as I can tell - Dave hasn't explored much, and not in the right direction either. So he thinks the whole map is the same caliber as the capital site.

That was my first thought, but if you look at the last post on page 4 of his thread for example you can see he has a pretty decent view of the grass area.

Why is Dave so paranoid about barbarians? I know they can be difficult sometimes, but cmon, that's just overdoing it.

Agreed. The vast majority of early FFH barbs come from Lairs not spawns and it's far too early for barb cities to appear let alone barb kill teams.
