Actually it's Poitín. Usually somebody who has greyhounds knows someone who knows someone who distills the proper stuff up in the hills (never use the stuff bought in shops, too weak). Hair of the dog that bit its owner.
I don't think I'd survive that... If I ever go to Ireland (in fact, there's a big chance I'll visit Ireland next year, to visit a friend that is going to spend one year there), I'll embarass myself.
As for the game:
Hooray for a great second city!
Hooray! Hooray!
Hooray for Marble!
Hooray! Hooray!
Still not enough info to properly place our second city, but it's already assured that it'll be a great one. The marble seems to be pretty safe, what with all the ice blocking the path. I suppose we can settle it when we need the marble or 2 commerce TRs, since that seems like an island.

Stoopid doggie.
Turn was going to roll before I could get back to it, so I just took the safe route. It ends up being the same turn we hit the hut, just a less fog revealing path. Hopefully it attacks IBT, I have no idea what the wolf AI is.

Yeah, I started playing the turn yesterday and I decided to stop and discuss this. But then I went to sleep and forgot to post about it. The wolf will likely attack, so better to be safe than sorry.

He was on the exact wrong tile, unfortunately. The forested hill didn't delay the time to the hut but made it far less likely we'd take a hit. I created a sandbox (attached). It is deliberately designed not to allow us to predict tech.

Dear lord the game is Normal speed. Whose bright idea was that ?
Fixed sandbox, played up until first Worker is done.

I'm not going to mess with the sandbox until we pop the hut. Surely it contains the secrets of mining...
With the land avaiable, it seems we really lucked out in the EXP/IMP combo. So much food avaiable.

Poitín as actually very good for arthritis (you rub it into the affected area not drink it) so it's not just good for the beer goggle effect alone. What part of Ireland would your friend be coming to, and if you're visiting you should call down by Limerick way, we could meet up.

He'll be staying in Dublin. Meeting would be awesome. I want to see some true matches of Rugby, Gaelic Football and Hurling (yes, I will only watch, no playing for sissy me ). Ah, and I need someone to look after me when I pass out after the third beer.

Not that I needed a sandbox to tell me 2H > 1F, but if we improve the Cow first on turn 20 we have a Warrior done and 3H in a second Warrior. The food box is at 8/24 (growth in 3). If we improve the Sheep first we have 8H into our first Warrior (-10H) and the food box is at 14/24 (+6F) (growth in 2). Since that growth is onto a crap tile we are behind 10 - (1 + 6) = 3. We are also ahead 2C because we grew onto an unimproved river Cow vs. an unimproved Sheep. Of course we are always going to be growing one turn later on occasion in the future (only relevant until the happy cap). So let's play this out to, say, size 4 when we might want to start our first Settler (working the Sheep, Cow, grassland river mine, and Fur->plains Mine). On turn 27:
Cow first has 3 Warriors (exactly), 22H into the Settler, and a food box of 3. Gold is at 281.
Sheep first has 2 Warriors (exactly), 44H into the Settler, and a food box of 2. Gold is at 285.
In addition the Worker is standing on the plains hill ready to mine it (I am assuming BW is nowhere close to done), vs. at the capital in the Cow first scenario. We have saved a Worker turn because the Cow is closer to the grassland river hill than the Sheep, which incidentally meant the Mine finished one turn earlier and we worked a crappy tile one turn less. The plains Mine will also finish one turn earlier, meaning it is done in time to help with the IMP Settler for a net improvement of 3H (at the cost of 1C, which we are already ahead on anyway). Overflow doesn't get the hammer bonus...unless we put it in an EXP Worker .
At the low cost of not having a third Warrior our first Settler is going to be done on turn 32 (with 28 production into a second Worker) vs. turn 33 (with 3 less production going into that second Worker ). We are also 4C ahead, and one Worker turn ahead. So, Sheep first and screw intuition .
