[Spoilers] Mismanaged empire is best empire

Little treat for the lurkers : you can now make fun of my mismanaged empire in the lurker thread.

The numbers are the next cities I'll plant (bringing me to 17 total). I'm leading the city count of the people I know (equal to Ichabod), so it's actually not that bad. I just need more FW to make that land useful. Currency is due in 7 (this turn at 0% and 6t at 100%).

Edit : if someone's interested in seing more screenshots of specific things I can do that. I'm tired and lazy but I'm sure I can find the motivation.

Somehow I don't think you are getting the quickest death award.

Please do, I'll start with the bashing :

I'm currently working 6 unimproved tiles. Even if one is an acceptable 3/1/0 it's still way too much. Those tiles are : a 3/0/0 in Picamoles and Nonu, a 2/1/0 in Habana and Mitchell and a 2/0/2 lake tile in Allen. I'm understaffed in my new cities, and Davies, Slimani and Allen will grow on unimproved tiles next turn.

I only have 31 pop points, which I think is too low. 35 next turn is better, I'd like to get to 40 as soon as possible. But unimproved land pop points are useless anyway so unless I improve it fast the real situation won't change.

One of my strengths is having Hinduism. But I'm not using it well, I won't get a prophet for a long time (I'll be targeting priesthood soon for a temple or two, use a priest and wait forever until the GP arrives). HAK did the smart thing and also got Henge. That way he got a GP for the Mahabodi and is probably getting 6 or 7 gpt from it already, if not more.

I'll soon be able to revolt into HR, OR and Hinduism but I sure don't want to eat 2t of Anarchy for those. Yet if I get a prophet as my first GP my first GA will be seriously delayed. So I suppose the right choice would be to get a GS soon, fire a GA, revolt and use the GA to pop a GP. I'll definitely think about it, but it still means the revolt will come late, and the prophet even later.

I made tons of small mistakes with my workers, as you can see with the capital's "1t c" which was a cottage I started before realizing that that particular worker was needed in the east for the new cities. Just two turns ago I started a cottage 2W1S of Davies before realizing that it was delaying hooking the horse by 1t. I was able to road the horse tile for just one turn before the border popped, so my already-super-late hooking of horses is delayed due to lack of road. Thankfully I have FWs, which means those mistakes almost never cost me a worker turn. Nevertheless, it's sloppy.

3E of the spot marked "Barteq city" is a valid city spot for both Barteq and AT (mostly Barteq though) that would invalidate my Moai city (marked "2"). I still haven't done anything to prevent that, and won't until I can get a settler out. If Barteq does found it my western border will be pretty awkward, and I can't do anything to stop him because his power is frightening.
I may settle site 6 1W, which would make that part of the land less awkward, but that's just a filler anyway, and it doesn't allow me to abuse the 100h Moai bug.

I settled Savea knowing that I wouldn't have masonry for at least 10t. So the marble tile will remain unimproved for almost 15. This city will be pretty useless for a long time, and because neither Savea nor Habana have culture those two ice FP will remain out of my reach for wayyyyy too long.

Your turn now.

Yeah I couldn't even get that wink Grimace is now at only 2 cities and a minuscule military (I think it's him with the smallest soldier count, but I'm not stupid enough to put EPs on the dying guy so I can't be sure)

Demos

8 FW for 10 cities is really a stretch, I'll have two more in 2t but it's probably still not enough. Next settler is out in 6t from the capital, then two more a few turns later.

A 1:1 ratio often works fine IMO, and you have FW which are more efficient. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are constantly working some unimproved tiles. Stretching is good. smile

I feel like I'm always a few turns late on improving the tiles I grow into, so in a way I am constantly working unimproved tiles. Especially davies with its pig+lighthouse clam and grassland tiles everywhere : I grew a pop every turn and now it's every 2t. Anyway, my demos are ok so I'll stop complaining.

HAK (whom I met yesterday) has very few cities to compensate for his early shrine. I've delayed my shrine and am doing ok expansion wise. We'll see whose choice was best in 50t

How much are you whipping, Adrien? That can make a difference... an older city growing onto its 7th or 8th best tiles, for example, might be able to just eat a double whip or two rather than needing its new tiles improved right away, even if it doesn't "need" the production ASAP, so that a worker is free to improve a newer city's 1st or 2nd best tiles.
