He is currently 2 south of LN with his Chariot escort, and unmoved. For those keeping track, Krill's counter started at 8 gold/turn on t81.

We aren't sure which tech we will research next, but our plan to get out of our beaker deficits is to use a lightbulb from our next Great Person. We understand your desire to hold off on sending Construction around to avoid granting beaker discounts to CANT members, however we have been requested to help Portugal in their war against Rome, and they need catapults to fight off aggressive praets. Thanks in advance!

Literature is certainly a direction we've considered for our next tech, however are plan to get ahead of the trading curve is to lightbulb either Machinery or Philosopy, depending on which GP we end up getting.

I think we're taking the wrong tack here. I think that we say that it's not Aesthetics-Math, our "early" tech was fighting Sumeria. We were going to research something (HBR?) but for the good of all (including them) we were asked to fight Sumeria. We didn't want to, we'd have preferred building workers and granaries. It cost us the HG, etc.

I'd say we counter with that and offer to wait on construction till we get aesthetics and perhaps offer a beaker / cash credit to make up the difference.

Yeah AWTA stands for Alliance Within The Alliance. It isn't the best
name but if you can come up with anything better, I'd like to hear it.

Anyway, an alliance of 8 teams sounds like a good idea to ensure that
we aren't left behind post-CAN. 2 civilizations that I would like to
see on our side are Carthage and England. We have good relations with
Carthage, and they have one of the highest GNP's in the game ATM, so
that would be really valuable. We have dealt fairly with England so
far and they would have several troops left from the France campaign
to spare on attacking someone else, so that could be useful as well.
We don't really have a strong preference on the remaining 2 civs that
join us, so we'll let you guys think of some possibilities.

However, an alliance with the sole aim to take out Egypt is IMO not
really in AWTA's interest. Sure we eliminate a dangerous player and
capture some shrines, but in reality, AWTA is too far away to really
gain much of Egyptian land long term. Splitting the shrine income to
the victors won't work either since an alliance to destroy Egypt will
not last long after that objective has been reached, and therefore
since we won't control the shrine (we are too far away) very little of
it will go to us long term.

The main target for AWTA is Inca. 3 of us border them, they are behind
in tech and we can settle a good portion of their land since Rome is
preoccupied with Portugal. If Carthage did join another group instead
of us, we might be forced to attack them since their high GNP would be
a threat long-term to us. It is still preferable if Carthage join us
instead though since we can attack other people instead.

Is the IM summit you are proposing a chat between the 4 of us? If so,
that's a good idea. We would need to find a suitable time where we all
are available though (I am available most times, but if not another
member of A4 can take the call).

Always good to hear from you, though some of our team was a bit disconcerted by your email.

Specifically, it was our impression that the early "tech" that we contributed to CAN (and in exchange to you for Mathematics) was our attack on Sumeria. We did not WANT to attack Sumeria - originally we planned to contribute a tech (HBR I believe?) but for the greater good, we were asked to try and take out Sumeria. In the process, we destroyed our economy. Instead of building our (cheap) granaries and workers, we were tasked with building barracks and chariots. That put us in a hole that we are only NOW recovering from. It also cost us the Hanging Gardens, which even being Industrious, we missed by 1 turn.

We understand your desire to hold off on sending Construction around to avoid granting beaker discounts to CANT members, so on your word, we would be prepared to wait to consummate our Aesthetics / Construction trade until Aesthetics is done.

Additionally, if you'd like, we would be willing to compensate you for the extra beakers of Construction, either with gold (once Currency is researched) or units, if we could find an appropriate exchange amount. In looking it up, it appears to be a 50 beaker difference, though I'm not sure if it's different in game due to map speed / size.

Also email from Rome - apparently Portugal has sued for peace.

Cath Bruig is asking for peace and I have decided to hear them out due to their technological advantage. I believe that it is reasonable to add an extra seat at the table on your account, seeing as all of our empires will meet in a triangle somewhere and a large part of peace negotiations are expected to concern land division. Are you interested in participating?
