turn played. Actually - two turns played. I fortifed the eastern warrior next to the lion (btw - correct call in playing risk adverse, Dreylin) and he survived the battle. I've sent him SE.
Western warrior is playing it save returning to garrison / settler escort duty for 2nd city. I wonder how many others have a second city yet.
Capital started on Monestory (10) and growth (7) - any other suggestions?
Copper in 4, I spent a worker farm cycle defogging 2 more tiles to the West (jump out and then back) - would hate to miss a resource by 1 tile.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Below is the current situation. I have a settler with the warrior ready to found the city next turn. Bronze Working (and the location of copper) is 2 turns away so I am tempted to delay settling by 1 turn just to make sure we don't miss out on copper. You can see the game suggested site and TMIT / Dreylin's suggested site. I am actually leaning towards the games suggestion - it would make a very nice capital location with all of those cottageable tiles.
India and Inca have a 2nd city - Exploit doesn't.

chatted with Darrell of India ...
Quote:- Darrell: Hey
Have you chatted with anyone from our team since the summit?
- me: no
haven't chatted with my closest neighbours very much at all
- Darrell: okay
well...initially Krill did not want you in this tech alliance he was building, but we insisted.
- me: so - any progress on the grand alliance?
really - seems that Krill and I don't see eye to eye
- Darrell: he was trying to say something about roleplaying religious differences (uh...not buying it) but everyone pretty much agreed that should be between him and you.
Yeah.
- me: I respect Krill, his civ playing ability ...
- Darrell: So his plan was to sling alphabet with the oracle, and get an8-9 team block together to trade not only classical techs but also ancient techs
- me: but the thing that I respect about him the most is his ability to get other teams to do what he wants
- Darrell: Yes...a very dangerous ally
still, best to keep him close and work behind the scenes against him. that ends up being easy since everyone is wary of him.
- me: he is very helpful and full of advise - but you have to be careful with what you give him and how you use his advice
- Darrell: agreed...I am in a bind in PBEM2 since we share a continent.
- me: this is the main reason behind my 'not Krill' statements
but I can work with him if you guys want to
- Darrell: Im still trying to figure out how to play it. I have Copper, but there is a ton of jungle seperating us, and he'll see an attack coming from a mile away
I think he's pretty much netted us for round #1.
- me: wait - which game are we discussing now?
- Darrell: slinging alphabet is going to let the teams in his alliance really get ahead. we need to be in it. we also need an inner alliance of 4 teams (give or take) that understand the danger he represents.
- me: let stay on the pitboss and then flip to pbem2
- Darrell: all my comments are on PB3 except that one
- me: what about round #1?
- Darrell: that was for PB3
- me: and it is interesting that you say oracleing alphabet
because that was my plan too
- Darrell: hmm
- me: is Krill reading my mind?
- Darrell: dunno
have you simmed it out?
- me: my first city is picking up marble
not yet
- Darrell: turn 62
- me: his sim?
- Darrell: yes
- me: what turn are we on now?
- Darrell: don't tell him I told you obviously, but that is the date to beat
- me: did you ever watch hogans heroes?
- Darrell: just rolled over to 43
I might have caught an episode or two, but not a regular viewer
the Incans are also going for it, to sling Metal Casting
- me: sgt ??? - I know nutting
- Darrell: :D
- me: right
well - how are you placed to take it?
I could feed you marble so that you don't have to waste cycles on building a quarry and road
- Darrell: take his offer? we are tentatively committed assuming he can build a large enough coaltion.
- me: just have to get trade between us
- Darrell: ah
nope, we are forested out
- me: stonehendge
- Darrell: and not going for priesthood eitehr
exactly
and settlers
- me: ohh - plural!
- Darrell: we will be founding are third and fourth cities fairly soon
- me: well I suck then - founding 2nd in 1 or 2 turns
- Darrell: Eh...it could be stupid.
- me: but I still have my forests
- Darrell: But I know Krill is scared of Emperor maintenance. As an SP guy, I could care less. I want 4 fast cities because we have good sites, then we can grow vertical for a while.
- me: a large cartel with an inner alliance
- Darrell: I doubt anyone else will be that aggressive.
Precisely. We can hide our cooperation and plan for a future break.
- me: and is your team leaning towards me or Krill
- Darrell: Oh, we picked you.
Sunrise our diplomat still hasn't sent a letter?
- me: I think it is save to add 'ever' to the end of that sentance
- Darrell: funny (or not). rego is going to blow a gasket

- me: as in ... ' sunrise still hasn't sent a letter ever!'
- Darrell: okay...maybe the best thing is for you and I to just chat on occasion

- me: pardon me for being rude here but I have to put on my anti-Krill hate
- Darrell: All four of us our on board with your alliance idea, we just wnat it to be a hidden alliance inside a larger group so we don't get dogpiled.
- me: your team picked me? are you just saying that or ...
- Darrell: There was no debate, if that is what you are getting at.
- me: and exploit?
he is particularly nervous about rego
- Darrell: Krill never offered an inner alliance, and if he had we would have not accepted.
- me: given prior games
- Darrell: We insisted exploit NOT be part of the alliance with Krill, and everyone was okay with that.
- me: ok - I have nothing formal with him
- Darrell: My theory is that you want to be surrouned on three sides by alliance members, so you can agress the fourth side without worrying about your borders.
- me: but we are chatting a fair bit
he has met SsS
- Darrell: and rego does not trust him.
I think he's just clumsy, from lurking PB1
- me: hey - what about that F5 map swap idea?
- Darrell: Make any bilateral agreement you like with him.
I have a map stitch with Krill's map included.
If you send my your screens, I'll add them in, or I can send you ours.
- me: I am happy to swap my map - F5? or flying camera?
- Darrell: Actuallky...I can't say taht we'll do all that yet. Krill did ask us not to share his map and I think we'll probably honor that request.
give me one second
- me: np
I'll just keep typing
so - your team and me - that is 2 ... any idea for 3 and 4?
- Darrell: 1280x720 resolution, zoom out to the level just before the clouds appear, and snap some screenshots
HRE
- me: haven't met them yet
where are they?
- Darrell: I liked what little I saw of them
- me: haven't chatted much with the incas
and did I see that you have ex-Korea to your south
- Darrell: <snip>
if you can add to that it would be great
yeah, Krill did us a real favor. Not sure why, they are no where near him.
- me: address doesn't exist
that is Krill being krill - and it was the right move
send me the last bit after doc?
- Darrell: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5590/locations.jpg
- me: pretty sure it didn't like the '...'
and I was going to do that too
- Darrell: <snip>
- me: oh - and I found out how many land tiles we have in this game
4047
- Darrell: yeah...I think rego has to add you to the permissions list
- me: just need to go back and see how that fits in with my map musing
- Darrell: but the screenshot is what is important
Hey I got to go in a minute...is there anything you want to settle before I go away?
- me: ok - Inca is to my right - that is all that I know re new info
nope - just need a 4th team
will look at location and ping you with suggestion
- Darrell: let me float the HRE idea in our forum if you are okay with it
ideally we all border each other
that would be dantski I guess
- me: oh - what are you guys doing with your GPriest? - guess you know that question was coming
- Darrell: Krill offered us a GS for it.
I said let's hold off and talk to ruff before accepting
- me: the other idea is Rome (for avoidance) but also for land
then we could crush Exploit and the Inca (between us all) and have lots of land
- Darrell: I'm good with Rome...
But according to everyone in the Krill summit SsS are all a-holes
- me: well - if he lands the oracle- he will get his onw
- Darrell: wife is giving me last call man...I got to go
- me: hmm - don't know them very well
- Darrell: will try and catch you this time tomorrow?
- me: thought scooter was ok
sure - see ya

You can see above that Darrell asked me for a screen shot. I'm going to delay on that just a little bit so that I can grab some city locations first.
the land as I know it ...

I guess there are 1.20% water and peak tiles.

email to JANK ...
Quote:Greetings,
I noticed that you have a Q (hot dog) to my south - I am sending a warrior (Back Foot) down that way too. I am trying to coordinate a meeting with Krill. Would you be interested in tagging along?
Did I ask you else you have met yet? I have met India and Exploit. Both are to my east. Also, have you any tech trading plans?
Cheers,
Ruff
DJCiv and I have also been chatting - trying to coordinate a meeting between me and Krill. I've also started coordinating tech with India in light of Krill's oracle of the letters around T62.
