[SPOILER] PBEM21, "Zero to Hero" (Kuro, Pericles' Ottomania)

Alright, so finally getting on this turn...

First things first, scoreboard.

As you can see, Ellimoogle has gained 6 points, while everyone else has remained the same.

First things first, before demos, I move my Work Boat to the Fish and use it. Erodan can actually still grow in 3T working the Fish, so I have it work the fish, giving my capital 1 more commerce. So now my civ makes 12 beakers per turn and 1 GPT @ 80%. 90% makes Pottery go faster, so I'll crank it up once I get Gold hooked up on Sailing, with the +1 GPT from these turns letting me run it longer.

Honestly, GNP is almost impossible for me to read now. I might try and decipher it more later. Partially because I'm VERY late for playing this turn, but this screen will stay here.

So, mhm, yes.

I will do a bit of C&D, though. I know that it wasn't a pop point both from it and the T5 city screen. Thanks to the food count, we can assume he has Fish worked up too, and we can see how my GNP is 29 with my Creative culture + Fish. 30 is either Jkioan or Ellimoogle, but I'd guess it's Ellimoogle, working Fish and Corn, researching a tech with a prereq after finishing their last. The only problem is IDK what they could get in 6, which was the last time they a tech. The other option is Jkioan somehow jacked up his GNP.

Abby moves towards the Gold. Ducky can start improving it next turn. Growth will come soon for both cities, exact same time really, but Fef will whip it's Work Boat. Then Fef will build a 5T-ish Warrior for protection happiness. Then it's 3T growth will let it work the Gold and whoosh.

That's all for the turn, so time to finally ship a save.

So, turn start...

NobleLewwyn jumps all the way from 77 to 90!

Fortunately, 6 of that is pop...

So that leaves the rest to a technology, which makes sense, they were due. But I can't figure out which one...

We can also see he didn't go up in soldiers. My best guess is Pottery, because it's the only useful tech I can think of that reasonably fits the timeframe. Masonry, AH fit similar timeframes...but neither are very useful. Well, Masonry for the Pyramids, maybe. IW couldn't be done this fast. The only other tech that'd fit is Sailing: But that both gives soldiers and, you know, requires they know Fishing.

Looking at it though, the tops in soldier points DID get 2k. So a Warrior probably got built...or AH was researched, which gives 2k soldier points. I can't imagine that was it, though...

Jkioan:
T5 - Fishing
T14 - Meditation
T21 - Masonry/Priesthood
Slow built a Work Boat.
T26 - Mining OR Warrior + Tech
T27 - Growth Size 4
Building ???

Ellimoogle Carpathia:
T8 - Agriculture
T17 - Growth
T21 - Bronze Working
T22 - Grew
T26 - Mysticism
Built a Worker
Built a not Worker(Probably)
Building a ???(Possibly Worker/Settler)
T32 - Researched unknown technology(I can't figure out what...possibly Meditation or Hunting)
T33 - Warrior built?

NobleLewwyn:
T8 - Agriculture
T21 - Bronze Working
Built a Worker
Built a Worker
T30 - Second city
Building a ???
T33 - Pottery/AH/Masonry researched, Warrior built?

As for actual stuff this turn...

Ducky began on the mine and Abby moved into position. That's all.

Feferi spreads her borders( wink) at the end of the turn. She and Erodan both grow( wink) next turn: Fef will whip it's Work Boat.

well why dont let the city almost grow to size 3 and after whip he workboat?I always find that is better to whip with the food bar almost full and the city is gaining same size next turn then whip a workboat and do nothing with it because you dont have population to work the fish tile ...
Reply

City grows in 5T after whipping anyway, after which it can work the Fish for 3T growth. In addition, since irrigated rice is 5 food and Fish is 5 food, I can actually work the higher commerce Fish over the lower commerce Rice, giving me a slight edge in research. Waiting to pre-fill the bar will take a bit longer and I miss out on roughly 5-6T of the extra commerce from working the Fish over the rice.
Reply

I can say you can work the rice and the fish unimproved util your city is at size 2 with box near full and you gain more or work the hill and gain some overflow production from whiping a workboat...

Hmmm...

I'll run some calcs tomorrow, see what's the better option.

Another turn!

Ellimoogle's score went up 6. A quick look tells us that wasn't pop, although the Demographics STILL say something interesting.

Dat GNP!

The 36 has to be Jkioan, because of the 5 Buddhism culture. After all, with our two Creative cultures contributing 4, we're still 7 behind: Even working the Gold wouldn't be able to inflate GNP that much! Right?

...But then I decide to check the event logs.

Down goes Hinduism!

Only Jkioan and Ellimoogle had Mysticism and Jkioan's score has not gone up. So Ellimoogle must have founded it and therefor founded it. I guess my early thought that they grabbed a tech I didn't know is wrong. Polytheism WOULD fit NobleLewwyn's research time...but they don't have Mysticism, which is kind of required.

Jkioan:
T5 - Fishing
T14 - Meditation
T21 - Masonry/Priesthood
Slow built a Work Boat.

T30 - Second city

T33 - Pottery/AH/Masonry researched, Warrior built?

Also notable from demo screen: 9 Production! Grassland hills are 3 each, capital is 2, so it's either NobleLewwyn working two Grassland hills, capital and second city or Jkioan pushing for Henge/Oracle. I'm guessing it is the latter.

Workers continue on the Mine. EOT, double pop boost all the way across the sky. That might mess up their C&D some, since I'm only whipping one city.

So, turn start.

I start the turn taking Mackoti's idea into consideration.

Scenario 1: Mackoti Plan

5 FPT, Growth in 4, so whip in 3.
So I work the Rice and Fish, for a total of 4 BPT. I SHOULD grow back if I whip T3, to work both Fish and Rice.

Scenario 2: Original Plan
Whip to Size 1, 5 FPT, grow in 4, work Fish from start.

...Actually results in less research, yeah. So, I'll do that: Feferi whipped(Me~ow!) in 3T.

Due to this, Pottery will JUST not finish this turn. I'm going to let it do that, then crank up the research on the last turn for max overflow due to more Pottery prereqs. I'm actually considering working the Gold that one turn, because it'd really help the Sailing research and only cost 1T for whipping(If that). The hammers would just go to overflow too, so.

Oh, also, if there was any doubt...

Ellimoogle switched to Hinduism this turn, presumably due to being Spiritual and thus having no reason not too. Personally, I would of waited, just to shortly conceal anyone C&Ding: Happiness cap, w/ Warrior in cap, is 5, so even if they had the Size 4 city they don't need Hindu happiness.

I'm going to assume Ellimoogle is Mr. GNP 36, which would explain how he got Poly after Mysticism fairly quick.

The 9 Production is probably Jkioan building a Wonder.

I'm thinking of roading the Gold and back to the capital, then coming back for Ivory and then chopping, giving myself a road network between Erodan and Feferi, also quickening chops l8r.
Reply

Looking at the picture and seeing how many woods you have, its beter to chop the work boat and work all the special tiles , gold, ivory, fish and the eles. And after that start a setler at size 4.to bad tha you go first potery cause you could start a galey on capitol and whip it.
Reply

Galley is going to start shortly enough anyway, so I feel the diversion was fine. I feel that chopping the Work Boat isn't as good, given how fast the city will grow. 20 Hammers can better go to a Settler.
