RB Pitboss #1 [SPOILERS] Willem of Persia

Thanks for the vote of confidence MWIN! I'm not sure I share your optimisn but I'll see what I can do. smile

Yes, I'm not sure what the cultural implications of razing/refounfing/bombing vs capturing/bombing. If any of you guys know any difference between those stategies, let me know.

Norwood's borders have just popped again which cuts off the red x in the above screenshot. It is looking increasingly likely that the best plan is to save the artist for Green Township.

I reckon the plan will be to send the entire combined forces towards GT. The war declaration will be the turn after next (T125).

The combined army will be somewhere in the region of:
16 War Elephants
12 Catapults
5 Praetorians
4 Impi
3 Maces
3 Horse Archers
1 Crossbow
1 Pikeman

I don't know how militarized this world is but that sounds like an impressive stack. If you put that entire stack next to Green Township with just one turn's warning, it should be interesting to see Regoarrars reaction smile

45 units? yikes 298k soldier points? yikes Yeah, that'll get his attention. jive

Stealing a city site from Imhotep while making a joint attack with him? Won't that piss him off? I guess the diplomatic scene in this game is more complicated than I thought...

If there are less culture in GT than what a GA will give, I don't think there are any advantage of racing-rebuilding.

Also with thes kind of stack, I would not be too afraid of any (short term) retaliation, culture or not.

Email from Imhotep to the NUTA members (in response to various conversation bringing the new guys up to date and urging more communication among us):
Quote:As for the communication it sure could have been better, but who am I to complain – I’m usually not too talkative here :-P . Daniel just snatched a city site I wanted to settle right under my nose – had I roaded instead of cutting the forest, I had got it. Oh well :-P .That said I think we can trust each other – at least as long as the UTA is alive :-P . I have long given up hope of winning, considering my rushing gamble failed utterly due to the circumstances. I’m just playing this for fun now. J

Imhotep

So I'm not too worried. If he kicks up a fuss, I could always cede it to him to get hom to continue the war but it probably won't come to that. Land grabs are pretty much a first come first serve anyway.

Besides, I own all the catapults so turning on me would not be so much fun for him. smile

Where oh where is Rego's real army? Come out come out wherever you are...

Oh, and it hasn't escaped my attention that Rego has a Trireme on the eastern coast near The Grocer. There may be Galleys following which I won't be able to do much about but I'm keeping a few units within walking distance from there and I've started a Trireme in The Grocer.

I'm sure that Rego is posting our recent email correspondance in his thread. My thoughts? Well, while there is probably some sincerity about looking for a way we can work together, I think a large part is again trying to get information and hoping to avoid me attacking him. Though the way he keeps the channels open and communicates often is to his credit and makes him good at this diplomacy business.

However, while I am always looking at my options, I just don't see how we can work together at this point. It would pretty much involve him and me agreeing a joined military capmaign against Elkad to see it worth my while. If that were an option then I would strongly consider it. But he would rather it be me who turns on a former friend and we both attack Imhotep together, which doesn't have near as much benefit for me. Elkad's nearest territory is much more accesable than mine, not to mention that we are currently at war and also that Elkad presents a much more dangerous rival in terms of prospects for the game (since Imhotep is pretty much playing on auto-pilot).

Anyway, even if Rego were willing to turn on Elkad, it is still not necessarily in my interest because Rego is the most dangerous of the 5 UTA members and bringing him down a notch does the NUTA cause much more good than hitting Elkad again and leaving Rego alone.

Anyway in my responses I try not to give too much away. Though tbh I assume he has a spy in my land that can see the units and he can also work out my total army from demographics so I won't be surprising him too much no matter what I say.

In other news, Imhotep missed a turn which is incredibly frustrating but has finally moved some of his units to the staging tile (the ivory right beside The Castle). However he has moved only his Elephants and left his melee units back where they were. I've emailed him asking if this was intentional or not. Perhaps the initial assault stack will only have 25-30 units. How disappointing.

Still no visibility on additional Indian units. My original spy has been sent down behind Fairfield and I've another coming out of The Bank next turn to check for reinforcements from the north after the declaration.

Logistically, this is going to be awkward with me operating the cats and him the muscle especially since he can be hard to get hold of. Do not expect perfect synchronisation and a well executed attack folks.

I guess he wants his share of the fun and thus wants to move his own units, but it seems like it would be much better tactically if he just gifted all the units to you?

T127 and the stack of DOOM marches on. Here is the defence that Rego has scrambled into place:

I have moved a mino-stack of 1 Mace, 1 Pike and 1 Jumbo up to bother the Knight which is guarding 2 workers.

On the next turn, I will move a mini stack of 2 cats, 4 Jumbos and a Mace towards Fairfield and I'll also probably cut the road that my spy is on. This will coincide with moving adjacent to Green Township.

As it standa, unless Rego conjures another 10+ units (including plenty of cats) from thin air in the next 2 turns, Green Township and Fairfield will both fall.
