Era of defense

Good point concerning Jemmy. Not sure how the borders would go. Had to check them out. We could move our stack SW from WIFOM and prepare to attack Jemmy. They wouldn't get most of their units in their main stack in there on time. Main benefit is that our units would still be inside our territory and could be faster to get elsewhere. Disadvantage is the central location of the Jemmy so they'll get more defenders there than they would get to Katana. Also that city will be vulnerable for a while. This might be our best shot to hit Katana before they retreat fully.

Let's go for Katana if you think we can pull it off.

It seems a lot like Tasunke is waiting for his turn roll and then logs in lol. It seems like his latest whips have been a bit more defensive in nature. I see Lbows in his border cities. Maybe he is not joining the effort after all. Maybe they've a deal that prevents him just for signing NAP.

After seeing Gillette's moves, I think we should try to hit Katana with a smallish stack, yeah.

My first impulse about the naval stack is to play it defensively and just keep blocking the passage for their galleys. We don't care if their caravels zip all over the place as long as we can stop the galleys. Killing the triremes isn't so important if we can't get at the galleys underneath them. OTOH, some promotions on our caravels would be nice, too, so I can be talked around on this.

Also, I'm thinking we need to hurt Gillette in a land war before the age of Astronomy...

Seeing how Gillette are retreating this looks like a good time to hit Katana, yeah.
Maybe we can even use a stack outside Katana as leverage for a peace treaty.

I'm not sure exactly what you had in mind with a caravel attack, Plako, but my uninformed impression is that it's a bit premature.
I have to run.

Caravel attack was just 1st impulse and I agree better wait until we can hit also galleys.

Katana attack is a bit risky they might move their own stack to threaten WIFOM. Need to see how many defenders we can get there and still be safe the turn after. Good thing in Katana attack is that we should be able to bring back all the troops not needed in the capture to WIFOM so we could also take a bigger risk and move almost everything towards Katana to make sure we get it and can move all the troops also back to WIFOM the turn after.

After looking again the situation I think best move is to put lots of troops near Katana that we're sure it falls and we can bring most of them back to WIFOM in time. Should we prepare a settler to claim us those furs and corn smile. Furs are a bit difficult since we probably need a coastal city, but plains hill E from ivory would be good.

Sounds good. If I recall correctly, that hill is already roaded for one turn. Just in case you want to draw up a micro plan for the settlement. tongue

Another idea that I've been kicking around, may as well put it up for discussion. How about just building the globe in Ramune? It's gonna take a long time to get it up and running in Gin Tonic. (It needs to be resettled, first of all...)
