Can any kind lurker help me out?

This is my future globe city and will be shortly put to use.

It's got plenty of food and i'm willing to farm over the cottages, i won't be in caste system but ideally i'd like to keep this as a perfectly set up globe city for producing units every turn BUT also be working two scientists.

I don't know how much food surplus i'd need to wangle this so any help would be most appreciated. You can havea city (or second) named in your honour! (No, the above post does not mean just *anyone* can have one... rolleye )

Please bow

To grow every turn from size 5 to size 6 I think you need a food surplus of 15. Is this quick speed? Maybe you need +10 food then? T-Hawk will be along shortly to provide the correct numbers. wink

Anyway, at size 5, you can work the corn (+4), rice (+3), cows (+2), two farms (+1 each) and the city centre (+2) for +13 food. Each scientist nets -2 food, so if you replace the farms with scientists you get +7 food. Adding more population and more farms doesn't really help (until Biology) because the food required to grow increases as well.

The National Epic doesn't really synergize well with the Globe Theatre, unfortunately... I guess what you have here is a time-shared GP Farm and Draft Camp.

Hey Novice. Thanks for the help. Guess i'll make it a GP farm then and find a new spot for a draft Camp. If only there was another nearby site, that fits with my dotmap.

I mean, obviously, the only other great site i can spot is Ankara and that belongs to Cull. I doubt he'd just hand that over...

Apparently a picture says a thousand words: enjoy.

Cull, i doubt you'll ever read this as you're not so active on the forums but it really is nothing personal. I need to attack someone with my production advantage and TT approached me first and offered me a Great Person to go away. I'm friends with you both but attacking anyone else at this stage doesn't make a lot of sense.

The war has begun.

However, before we get into all that bloodthirsty malarkey- let's take a look at the event log.

Well, i'll be damned. Cull built the Great Lighthouse in Ankara! Cull, you've known for awhile that i was gonna attack. Hell, one of your border cities has been named GG Kyan for a few turns and you built this in the other?

Don't get me wrong, i'm grateful. I just don't quite get the logic. I guess you've given up and just thought feck it? lol

Other things to note are that Seifer built the University of Sankore and Malakai also declared on Cull. I knew about Malakai but the wonder was news to me. Fair play to him i suppose. The wonder has no interest to me.

Onto the nitty gritty:

Cull had 2 axemen defending, neither of which were fully fortified. He also has workers all over the place. I can only assume he has given up. Regardless, i don't want any losses so i wasted a few promotions to ensure i had decent odds. It's worth mentioning that all of my units were built in cities that had both a barracks and a stables. I'm promoting them as i see fit. I have one unit on 9 xp now after the battle so i'll try get this up to 10xp.

I have no idea how much of Culls land Malakai thinks he's gonna get his hands on but i intend to keep at least Edirne, Ankara and the land which used to occupy GG Kyan. I razed that city as it was poorly placed (i assume Cull couldn't see the iron). That secures me both the great lighthouse AND library and marks off about half his land. If Malakai wants to fight for the rest, i can deal with that. My MfG is 177 and his is around 50. Yeah.

The new front:

Let me know if that isn't clear please. White lines mark my units. Red lines mark his. Ankara has an axe and a warrior garrisoned. I will claim a few workers en route as i'd rather them not get deleted or taken by Malakai. Furthermore, i have a settler en-route to re-settle in the now clear land.

Looking good - where's the new city going to go?

1N of it's original location. It was a small city with no buildings and i'd like to use the grassland iron tile also. I need names though!

I'll take Ankara next turn so i need two new city names: one for novice and one for spaceman.

Any suggestions?

Turn 100 Update

Sorry for the lack of posting since the last flurry, but i figured i'd leave it all until the big one hundred. I'll begin with a picture dump, followed by thoughts/musings.

Score:

Besides the obvious lead, the most important thing to note is that i can see Seifer's research. You'll notice later that i'm managing to maintain graphs on everyone else also. This is especially important as Seifer is the only person even close to me technologically.

Cities:

Cull's former lands:
I came to a deal with Malakai where i get 'Fort Cull' and the other two sites below it, but he can have everything else. This secures Great Library and Great Lighthouse and is enough land for now. Malakai's army isn't insignificant and whilst i probably would have been able to claim it all for myself by wiping out his army, i'm not sure it would have been worth it. Seifer and Malakai are apparently good allies and it wouldn't surprise me to see others piling in also. Dogpiles are fun, no?

I will be building forbidden palace in Fort Cull eventually.
The north:
Lovely commerce land. No Vice City will become my globe theatre city eventually (not getting Drama just yet) and The Melon Farm will be constructed as a production city mainly as most of my others are way down south. Port Who has the Moai Statues.

The south:
My two lovely squeezed in production cities. These two cover all the major military grunt work whilst also pulling a good amount of commerce. Marshall Mines is my heroic epic city.

the east:

You can just about make out a settler on the 'city' site south of the chinese border city. I can't see my border here changing anytime soon. I'm going to move units here shortly in case of an attack via that route. I'm using 3 sentry HA's to cover the entire land and passage from Jowy towards TT. This will give me significant advanced warning in case of any threats from that direction.

the Core:

My first three cities. A 100% G Scientist pops out of Twinkletopolis in 3 turns and will make an Academy over at Orennaí. These cities all rock and form the bulk of my economy.

My capital:

It's monstrous. I love it. Delaying Taj Mahal for now as i know Seifer hasn't started researching Nationalism. Since i play before him and have his research, i will delay this until either a) seifer is 1turn from nationalism or b) my golden age is about to end; whichever comes first.

Much more of the report to come, but i have a footy match. Pics are all taken so when i get back, i'll finish the report.

Oh, before i leave, one last whinge regarding my leader. Catherine =/= Pacal !
Just imagine those screenshots if i were financial, bit unsure why i was the only person without an economic trait when Willem exists (can't say he's overpowered since Pacal is in the game!).

Whinge over though, i promise. The rest of the stuff will be positive from here on out.

I just lied.
