That's unpossible!
Yeah, but I make the unpossible, happenin'.
Sorry for the enormous lack of updates. Many things conspired to diminish my interest (my old PC imploding being the first of many). I will try to start reviving my thread, although I'm not sure that I'll have time to be as active as I once was. I will try to get some more pictures up, though. For now, a basic text update and summary:
When we last saw Whosit, he was contemplating doing something drastically stupid. Now, let us rejoin him, stupidity in progress.
Whosit sent a force of four Axemen, a Chariot, and Spearman to Kylearan's newest city, which was situated on a hill and already had a border expansion due to that thrice-damned Creative trait. As expected, Ky nearly doubled the number of defenders in the city in between turns, and Whosit's odds of capturing the city became a number very close to zero.
So Whosit decided to turn his strike force in to a Marauding force, praying that Ky still lacked Catapults. Otherwise, this may be one of the shortest offensives of all time.
As for my own research, it's basically dead. Yeah, not enough commerce. Who woulda' thought? Trying to get more cottages online, but I also need more cities. Egyptian War Chariots to the south (and I know many are on patrol) make me nervous, so I need to build more Spearmen, but all keep Axemen on hand to handle things that are not War Chariots.
So, the Confederate States of Elysium are basically stagnating. I think that my game has really be off for this PBEM, though I'm having trouble pinning down what exactly went wrong (aside from no commerce, obviously). So... more cottages, more cities to run more cottages... more troops, which require more cottages, more paranoia, and less results. Yayyy!

Maybe you picked the wrong opponents.
I have to run.

Well, I never thought I really belonged here, but they needed another player, so ...
Anyway, not much new to say this turn. My stack isn't dead yet, but I think that Ky has put more troops into the city, so I'm certainly not taking it. Wonder if he'll counter attack and put me out of my misery. Somehow, he seems to have out-expanded me and has a larger army, too.
That War Chariot has been hanging there for a couple of turns. I never got a road to it, but I guess I'll just chase it away. Wish I could kill it. Going to have to scout in force south to see how far Cyneheard has expanded.

Well, not much to update at the moment. I suppose I should remember to get civ-wide screen shots, and maybe another round of city screen shots the next time I get the save (whenever that is), but for now, here's the trouble I can see to the south:
And the east:
Note that the big stack in Kylearan's city is gone. Hopefully he's just moving inward to crush my raiders. I'm sending a Warrior out to check and see if he's advancing on my city, instead.
Good news is, I can build Catapults in 4 turns. Bad news is: He'll be there much earlier if that's what he's doing.
I really doubt my little force will accomplish anything. We'll see.

What did the stack in Apple II contain? Also, what do you hope to achieve by sending that ministack into Kylerean's territory?

I can't remember what the stack had exactly. Several Axemen and Holkans, and maybe another Archer or two. It could easily become an attack stack, or it could be moving out to get my guys.
What do I hope to achieve? I dunno at this point. I suppose I hope to find some improvements to pillage. Again, if the enemy has catapults, then I'm totally doomed. If not, I might do a bit of damage before my stack is killed.
I suppose I could try to extract them, but where's the nonsense in that?

OK. Ky was moving his troops to intercept. And he has a pair of Catapults. So run away! 3 turns to Construction for me. Didn't notice that Hanging Gardens and Great Library were already gone. Lagging so far behind, it's really not funny anymore. Oh well.
Meanwhile, Cyneheard pulled up an Axeman to cover his War Chariots, so I had to pull my Spearman back this turn. Settler will pop next turn, but it'll be real hard to secure another safe spot.
Judaism has auto-spread to all my current cities. I'll convert sometime soon for the extra happy bonus, and maybe switch to Organized Religion, as well.
Pictures up later today, hopefully.

Well, a bit of news today.
My next settler has finished, and begins the short trek to Oceana. I was originally going to push south, except there are too many enemies lurking out there.
Both have Guerilla II, and since I don't have a spare Chariot to take out the Axeman (man, I should have been building a chariot! ), they are effectively like:
Meanwhile, Confederate forces in Nerd territory have bravely advanced backwards, ala Brave Sir Robin:
And hope to make it back home in one piece. Construction is due in a couple of turns, and if I can throw a big stack of catapults together, I can probably give the invasion another shot.
