Square Leg is Garrim Gyrrrrrrr - An Angry Dwarf

Jkaen Wrote:Square, if we are not careful the other threads will catch up to our post count! Any updates at all?

Dag nam it! Have they no respect! wink

So we missed a turn on Monday partly my fault for delaying it over the weekend and making us all out of sync... duh We are back on track now and I played the turn last night at the usual time.

I founded our second city! jive We are second only 1t behind the Clowns I believe in settling so I'm pretty happy with that considering. Our city is called:

"Valley of the W" and that is when I hit the character limit. banghead Ok - I was annoyed and I toyed with going for my 3rd city name but in the end I settled on:

"Valley of Wind"

This is of course after this film:

If you haven't seen the film, I would recommend it. A lovely story of a young girl who lives in a dangerous world infested by poisonous jungle. She wants to work with the jungle and preserve the animals that live there whereas there are others who have different ideas. A classic struggle with nature that is a recurring theme in the films of Hayao Miyazaki. (Pom Poko is a wonderful film that comes across more like a documentary than a feature film).

Nausicaa's people are protected by the wind that blows through her idyllic valley, blowing the poisonous spores away from the residents and she fly's around on a cool contraption often venturing into the jungle and its beauty. As with all Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films, the cinematography is lush with so much detail. Often there are no words and only pictures to guide the viewer through the movie.

Unfortunately, I forgot to upload my screenshots to Dropbox and so the actual picture will have to wait until tomorrow! lol

Expenses rose to 2gpt but seeing as we have over 225g in the bank, we should be just fine for now.

Zombie face Wrote:Uh yeah right, I have to answer. Sorry.

What do you think of the following:

- You can settle a city on the tile your warrior (I think it is a
warrior) is on, so to get Reagents, Corn, Cow
- I will settle on the hill 2E or 2E1S of the Broken Sepulcher

This would mean that we won't have issues with culture till 3rd ring
and also let us settle cities which do provide some benefit to our
civs.

Kind regards,
Serdoa

no banter? No nothing! I get a really cold feeling from his direction. I'll have to take a look at these spots and see what it means for us - to be honest - I'm tempted to just agree in principle for now (although I think Valley of Wind scuppers the site he suggests for me...) and then knack him and settle where the hell i want to! wink

Also had a reply from Sareln:

Rincewind Wrote:I'm pinned in between the Sidar and Clan so I really don't have much choice in the matter to be honest. The land in the Clan's direction is order of magnitude better than the land in the Sidar's direction. It's about 3.5 cities worth of space.

As to life in general, it is full of lizardmen. We're managing but it's putting a serious damper on my expansion plans.

-Sareln-

I replied with:

Stunty Leg Wrote:Hey Sareln,

Sounds nasty having lizardmen crawling around... I have a warrior who fortunately keeps finding hills to run over to escape lizards!

I think most people, if not all are pressed up against the sea and so they are likely to spread inland. That happens to be in the direction of the clan by default for most seeing as they are in the centre in the south. While I agree with what Bob was saying - I don't see that it will make any difference until people start settling their 3rd and 4th cities. I always believe that your 2nd city should always go in the best location possible for you - not to try and knee-cap someone else.

Did your scout manage to survive near my borders? I have lost visibility on Walgna the Scorpion - must on her way to visit someone else!

I don't suppose you have talked to Iskender about his worldspell and his intentions? An invisible attack would be pretty nasty. Also - If you didn't know already - the Clan have a wolf rider on the prowl somewhere...

Cheers,
SL

Here is a shot of "Valley of the Wind" from last turn - when it was founded.

After Mining is done I think Exploration is needed for a road link. That will increase the happy cap by 2 to 6 and get trade routes in both cities. As soon as Mysticism is in I will swap to an elder council and also revolt to God King and Agrarianism. That should make it grow like a weed and allow it to borrow the Silk and a plains forest from Totoro and boost prodcution. Once the borders pop and it is improved, there is good potential for 4t wood golems here with those 3 PH mines.

I think I am missing something here.

First build seems to be scuptors studio, which you will switch out for a elder council then back. However you talk about the borders popping. Where is the culture coming from?

It comes from the sculptors studio when it complete's - admittedly, a little while down the line. The other option would be to switch to a monument when Mysticism comes in rather than elder council.

Sorry, I didn't realise / forgot a studio produced culture.

If there is no pressing need for the extra squares I guess it makes sense not to waste hammers on a monument (which you could start now)

Of course - I forgot that monuments were available at Ancient Chants. banghead

Hmm - the extra tiles aren't needed until Mining comes in or Loki is built so I'll stick with the current plan.

Grumpy in his slightly soiled pants Wrote:I don't suppose you'd kill that lion please? Grumpy would be renamed as happy.... wink

Get this back from Iskender:

Pssst Wrote:And thus a story is born. A story of the fearless explorer Stinkum Sockus who singlehandedly defeated a pride of gigantic lions and saved the civilizations of the east from the seemingly inevitable doom.
