[SPOILER] Catherine of Maya - Greens - Kyan

Kyan Wrote:The Melon Farm will be constructed as a production city mainly as most of my others are way down south.

I approve. Here's to it knocking out a good few military units in future...

So, part of your masterplan was to go for the most expensive tech from Liberalism. What do you have in mind at the moment? You can see seifer's research - how do the others' tech positions compare?

Nice update, anyway.

Military Screen:

As you can see, my army is wholly unimpressive. I don't even have construction yet! I was well aware of the total lack of army Cull was using as garrison and needed a quick decisive strike. HA's did the job just fine. Sentry ones are being moved into various spots to give me insurance. Most of the rest are being moved to various border towns.

Power Ratings:

As you can see, my army might be crud, but so is everyones. Hence my disregard for military techs currently. HA's should be useless this far into the game but i got away with it. I won't a second time. TT's surging power is because he intends to invade Jowy. Furthermore, he has struck a deal with me to purchase Horse Archers.

TT has offered me 1000 gold in exchange for 20 Horse Archers within 20 turns and also letting me settle that southern spot you saw in the earlier pictures. This deal is great for me for a number of reasons:

a) Opportunity Cost. There is very little. Three of my cities can build a HA in one turn without overflow. Marshall Mines makes them so fast that i'm dumping hammers into schwedagon paya every other turn just to prevent me losing too many. I don't even want the wonder, but i spose it could be useful for someone else so it's ok. Thing is, there's nothing else to spend hammers on other than military and when making military units the city is pulling 75 or so hammers. HA are 33hammers so i cant overflow more than 33... It has ALL buildings i can currently build already and the other two options are Angkor Wat or Chichen Itza. Chichen obsoletes soon and Angkor is just pap. At least i'd get access to theocracy without wasting time teching for it.

b) Money! I only need ~130g to stay at 100% science. This deal is more cost effective than building wealth.

c) They're rubbish! Horse Archers are not gonna cut the mustard in over 20 turns time when TT plans to use them. Jowy has catapults and Longbows already and will have pikemen ready and waiting. BUT it keeps these two fighting and stunted.

d) i'm gifting them in dribs and drabs to try and prevent anything too noticeable on the power graph. He's had 3 already and if you look at the power graph above, i think its hard to tell.

the demo's:

Don't really understand the soldiers one, when compared to the power graph? Whatever. The stats kinda speak for themselves and before you say: "Oh, but that's a temporary thing as you're in a golden age."

Well, yeah, i am BUT i have been for a significant amount of time and will continue to be. I will have had effectively 4.5 consecutive golden ages by the end of it. Over a month of the bastards.

Tech Plans:

Well, at end of turn, i'm 1t away from Lib at positive income, so i'm gonna delay it as long as possible.

The worst case scenario is i take military tradition with it. The best case is probably Democracy. I'm going to get printing press next to speed up my tech further and then plow on towards economics to get the great merchant (who i intend to get by hook or by crook). The gold from a GM combined with TT's gold will keep me at 100% long enough to establish a totally unsurmountable and terrifically huge tech lead.

For comparison purposes:

TT: Is spending SIX turns getting machinery (i can get it in 1t without breaking a sweat) and after that is going 0% science until he has all 1000 of my gold. Doesn't have civil service.

Jowy: Doesn't have civil service yet or if he does, hasn't revolted to bureaucracy. His GNP is woeful so i'm betting the former.

Malakai: Poor GNP due to his large army. Currently 3rd best ingame though by a significant margin. He revolted to Bureaucracy around 4 turns ago. He's told me he has no intention of going for liberalism.

Seifer: The only competitive person tech-wise (though definitely not land wise). He is sitting parked on 0% on education. I'll keep tabs on his research to ensure i don't lose out on Taj Mahal or Liberalism by taking the piss too much.

Right, just for you chaps, i grabbed alphabet (1t @ 30 science without overflow and making enough gold to more than pay for another turn at 100% yikes )

So... ive been blabbing about a tech lead, let's find out EXACTLY where i am in comparison to everyone:

Please bear in mind i have not included liberalism which is 99% researched and im sitting on it.

So, yeah, about what i expected. You guys can probably see why i'm beginning to get rather egotistical now about my chances of winning. Liberalism is a big old tech itself and Military Tradition is ~1700, Democracy ~2400. I'd be up two of those on all of the above values.

Once Printing Press is in, my tech is going to get more insane. I think i'll grab rifles and then go destroy everyone.

Conquest or Domination- which do you guys fancy? lol

Conquest.

Now I'll lurk.

Welcome my friend!

It could well be a pivotal city as i intend to pump out culture to 'accidently' wreck Malakai's city placements lol

Not only conquest, but make it AW after giving yourself some time to prepare.

No seriously, that would be great to watch, and from the info you just posted that sounds like the only way you can make your victory have some challenge =)
