[SPOILERS] CFCJester and Nakor want revenge!

(September 14th, 2013, 01:02)Nakor Wrote: We'll be working it next turn. Do we use Cen to build another cottage 1N, to chop a forest or to builf a road towards our new city?
I'd chop the PF west of the cow first, then road the cow, then chop/cottage the forest north of the wheat. We really need the two chops first (1st to finish the axe, 2nd for another worker). The road to connect the phant site to Rhu would be quicker with two workers. Also, we don't have a unit to cover any worker(s) outside our borders yet (so best to stay inside them until then).
Quote:CRH started on the first of a few archers. Moved the new worker (Abel) east to road the forest before chopping.
You didn't like "Thom"? Thom Merrilin (the gleeman) is one of my favorite characters in the books. Can't the next worker out of Rhu be "Abel"? :P

I think we need a 4th city before we go for a 5th worker, so I would use the chops to get another settler out.
I'll take a look in-game tomorrow.

A settler for Great spot! would be good. What spot were you thinking of grabbing?

Gaul's travels as promised

I think our fourth city should fill some gaps and our fifth city should be "Great Spot".
We need to get a defensible border. Here are some options:

It all means IW after Myst - Writing, also to unlock Preats.

Decided to move Thom/Abel (have to rename him) to the forest 2N of our current cottage to chop and cottage, then road the cows. We need more cottages! lol
We could send one of the workers from CRH over to Rhuidean to help chopping out the settler. CRH has enough improved tiles to work and keep working with one worker doing the job. What do you think?

Gave Rhuidean a more hammer heavy configuration to get the axe out earlier. No need to grow fast and above the happy cap:

The Axe will finish at the same time the chop comes in, so we can put that into a Settler?
Thoughts?

As soon as the axe completes we need to finish scouting the west coast by the rice to make sure we won't strand a fish or something. The only spot worth settling before IW is a city to grab the rice. The city square could be moved 1E if there is a fish (which we would grab with a different settler later). The other two sites are located well...we're just going to need a lot of workers. Rice then Great spot! then rest of border cities?

Send Tam (after roading pig) to help chop out a settler. Chop GF east of clam then start roading out to rice spot?

After we chop out the settler at Rhu, I really think we need another worker. We have too much to improve (chops/phants/gold/roads/cottages) to go light on workers. With all the jungle, I don't think we really need to worry about making too many workers. Also, once Great spot! is founded (and the rice spot as well), getting those cities improved quickly will help us catch up. Great spot! especially needs quick improvement since it can also pump settlers/workers efficiently. More workers!

You wanted to scout the westcoast?

How does that look? Looks like we want to go coastal....
Now, how did I get that info? crazyeye

That gave me some thought.
Then again, Commodore is a very long distance away.
In the end I accepted, got most of the westcoast and some more...

I hope I made the correct call here, but we really could use a friend.

Meanwhile domestic news
Abel was renamed Thom and started chopping a forest.
Tam moved towards the forest 1N of the wheat and will chop that.
Both chops will go into a settler (need to decide on what site).
Settling part for Nine Valleys is in place, city will be founded next turn, same turn Mysticism research finishes, so we'll chop that monument.
CRH grew to size 3, works the mine and will finish our first Archer next turn. I'll build another one before a Settler for Great Spot.

I really like the map trade. We really needed that scouting information so imo, trading maps was the right call. I think the next settler from Rhu should settle NE of the rice (1E of the C? sign). It would have the rice, share phants+banannas with Nine Valleys, plus have the PHF and GF immediately available to chop into a granary. It also fits better with the other spots you have marked (to secure the border with Pindicooter) as well as allowing us to settle another city later (once we have Sailing) to claim the sheep (which could share the rice). I still think we should finish Writing next before IW. Sailing after IW looks very appealing now.

Great job on the turn! smile We'll have our third city next turn with 2 more settlers following closely behind. We're not too far behind (so we'll catch up I think) but if you look at the map, we had a really awkward start (surrounded by jungle) and were forced to travel farther to settle than either Commodore or Pindicooter. I stand by our choices for second and third cities. We do have a city planned to share the wheat with Rhu but I think in our position (jungle heaven), the best choice was to claim better land first and backfill the helper city (i.e. share wheat and cottages) later.

We finally got our third city!
But... what's that?

Well.... rant
At least it fits nicely with our dotmap.
Seems like Pindooter doesn't want to expand towards Commodore....

Anyways...

Chopping out that monument!
All workers are chopping. First Archer from CRH is done and is moving towards Great Spot.
Second archer will take 2T.

Only real question: Do we grow Rhuidean to size 5? We have 4-5 turns of whip anger. Or do we avoid growth.
I ended turn on letting it grow, but if you think we should avoid, can you change that?
Off to work....

Let's say goodbye to Gaul

Once we have horses connected, we'll send out a few chariots to scout some more.

Thanks for all the markers, Jester!
Only thing I would change is CRH. I'd rather put the chop in a worker first and finish that before we build the Settler. We need to connect Ivory and Gold to get CRH up to size 6. It has a lot of good tiles to work, so 2-pop whipping doesn't sound that good to me.

Do you want to found Rice first or the Cottage Helper City?

Worker before settler at CRH is better yep...I thought you were going to do a settler next but really prefer the worker first. smile

Better to found the Rice first (seal the border with Pindicooter and block off the sheep site) then grab the Cottage Helper City soon after that.
