[Spoilers] DZ'CH is apparently a catchy name

Sorry for actually being a teammate instead of blindly agreeing with everything you say tongue

The problem is that we're really behind on the growth curve now--did you end up revolting into production-oriented civics? Is everyone else on at least four cities, or has someone else decided to grow tall rather than wide?

Yeah, that apparently didn't come out right, sorry. frown My comment was more about betraying your input without having adequate time to discuss properly, at least to my 4am mind.

BGN and scooter are still at 3 cities, so at least we are in good company in that regard. Everyone else has 4 except REM and now, Dreylin. Also, I did not revolt into other civics last turn until we could discuss it more.

I forgot to mention that I had offered peace to Dreylin last turn in case they wanted to grab the workers and run. But if their two whips last turn are any indication, they'll be doubling down on continued aggression in the face of my generous "offer." They obviously took Tartar, but if I do not open the turn to a peace offer, I will be changing to the following Civics roster:

Representation
Bureaucracy
Slavery
Mercantilism
Theocracy

I may do this anyway, to secure all sides of our empire. and then add 2 merchant specialists to one of the engineer cities to get an earlier GA. Doing this will allow us to whip some strong units (and possibly some Settlers!) out of Bureau Dehli and with quick recovery. The GA will get us Steam/Steel faster, as well as the slow build Engineer for IW.

It's a shame we will have to waste a turn of anarchy with a GA coming so soon, but being forced to consider this may be the best thing that could have happened to us.

Why Theocracy? It does nothing without a second turn of anarchy. If you just don't have a second candidate for a swap (Vassalage or Nationalism are possibilities if you need them), just go into FR.

OK so quick update:

1. We got our peace with Dreylin/OT4E.
2. Added 2 Merchants to Bombay and we will have our Golden Age GP in 2 turns.

This renders moot any discussion about my insistence of trying to instill a sense of piety onto our heathen masses. cool

1. They WILL believe.
2. They WILL accept the new morality willingly and with no upset to our daily business.
3. They WILL be rewarded for it the best training we can offer.

Not that the new belief system won't be fun. I finally found a naming system that I can live with if there are no objections. It also follows the same line of thinking as scooters Steam Engine, Cotton Mill etc.

You don't have to be a fan of the music to at least see that there are enough names to keep us going no matter how well we do. Delhi would become Wax Trax! but I have not thought beyond that.

Let me know what you think.

Oh, industrial music! I went through a phase of that when I was in college. Nice choice!

So beyond naming changes (which I'm fine with, as I don't care as long as they're distinct and/or easily abbeviated), what's going on with that GP? Do we really need that golden age to accelerate the curve if we aren't going to war--or are we declaring on REM shortly?

Any updates now that tax season is done? Or do you have cleanup to do until the weekend frown

Hey CH, so sorry for the delay. frown greenline, I hope you are still out there too.

Yes, I have tied up most of my loose ends, so I am going to try writing up a report tonight. Spoiler alert -- we are on Turn 3 of a Golden Age and things are looking pretty good!

I'm still here, it's just that it's hard to comment on the recent updates as there aren't many pictures or thorough explanations of what's going on I'm afraid

Turn 278 - 1816 AD

Our First Golden Age

As I write this, we have played through the third turn of our Golden Age. The purpose of having it now with only 3 cities is twofold:

1. To build the required 6 cities to unlock IronWorks

2. To time our discovery of Steel with the completion of former Vijay's Great Engineer in order to build Iron Works there.

Getting IW in a mere 10-11 turns will allow our highest production city the means to continue producing Settlers at a rapid rate once our Golden Age has past, or quickly pump out units in 2 turns (or less as the city grows). It will allow us to devote up to 4 Engineer specialists to help us rush the Statue of Liberty or some other Wonder.

Here is another reason I though we could get away with the GA now:

Though you may not recognize them, all 3 of our beautiful Indian cities are now in the Top 5 due to their enormous size. We seem to be the only ones going super tall at the moment, because we are the only ones who can sustain the infra for such growth. But this also puts a big target on our back, which is why I opted to swap out Serfdom for Slavery and go into Theocracy, as we will need to read and minimize any oncoming threat. Our large pop serves us well here should a war of attrition break out.

Anyway, let me introduce you to our newly named cities:

Wax Trax! (formerly Delhi)

We have a Settler coming out in 3 turns (after some post-pic adjustments) thanks to an unincorporated chop as well as our source of Coal, connected immediately upon discovery.

I am still thinking of 2-whipping here though, in order to put some hammers into the next Settler.

Sector 19 (formerly Bombay)

We have 2 Rifles here now (one at Garrison II) and will have a Catapult next turn. Despite their relative weakness on the battlefield, Cats still have the ability to soften any stack that we will see in the early stages. But other considerations are a Jewish Missionary for our other Barracks city, as well as a Frigate or two to guard this increasing contested sea (more on that soon).

You will see that I have used 2 GL tiles here when I should have really been using the GA-buffed sea tiles. I know I ended up using the empty Workshop though, so not sure if I grabbed from one of them. I'll optimize better next turn.

Zoth Ommog (formerly Vijayanagara)

Look at all that Iron! This city is going to be ridiculous, and so I wanted to find a name that seemed to fit such a relentless production machine. There will be another chop into this Settler next turn and I may 2-whip here as well to move things along on military. It's also time to start thinking about a Library/University here now that 6 cities is an impending reality. But protection for our 3 new cities (and Wax Trax!, still at 1 Rifle) comes first.

And yep, that is an REM city to our left, one of 8 so far. I'll be reviewing our 4 neighbors next.
