Jowy took peace and pulled his stack back. So, next turn, I'll invade Charriu!! Key for this is to not get sucked into a huge - hopefully, Jowy hits him in the south. I'll post plans when I have them

I suppose I should mention that I A) founded the island city with rice and B) took the barb city with marble.

Tech plan is to get Aesthetics->literature, then back to calendar - that gives me HE and Shwedegon Paya - hard to imagine anyone else bothering with the Paya. I might try for great library, but I dunno - very useful, but I suspect SD is targeting it. Might get drama for a theater for WhiteKeys. the music GA would be nice, but I also think that's not going to happen, with the various power house techers out there. And I need to get CoL sometime, too.

So, here's the setup to the battle turn:



I expect another archer or axe there next turn, plus maybe a chariot - dunno if he's going to get one there or not. I honestly have no idea if he has cats or not - I'll check his land for bridges next turn.

I can absolutely take that city next turn - 4 cats and some 17 hitters ensures that, though his units are really tough.

I don't think that taking down the defenses is the right way to go, but I'll do a sim to see. Every turn makes for more defenders. Honestly, I'm not sure he should defend the city. I think that if I just go and throw 4 cats at it, I'll lose a cat or two and nothing else. His sword will defend and will take some damage and the cats will do a lot of damage to the other units - then the axes will get in on it. Heck, I might be better off suiciding an axe against the sword.

ok - looks like I'll probably lose 3 or 4 cats attacking, but it's well worth it. I might just attack with a couple of axes first, anyway - I have a lot of them, after all.

In other news, Jowy is sending a big stack south and I expect he'll hit Charriu in 4 turns or so. I will probably not push too hard on charriu, cause I don't want to take all his counter - let Jowy get some of it. Sorry, Charriu.

Also, there is a clam near that jungle island near WhiteKeys. I might dump a settler on it.

He jammed in quite a few more defenders, so I lost more, but I took the city.  A lot of near 50% attacks.   Still 3 points away from a GG, which is upsetting.

I'm going to hold up for awhile - out of catapults, after all.

I sacrificed a chariot to take out one of his workers. Kind of a dick move, cause I had to delete it, but it was chopping a unit, so...

I'll lose the chariot to a spear next turn, but worth it. Gotta pay attention to chariots when at war.

Jowy has a large force heading to attack Charriu in the south. I'm going to consolidate - let Jowy soak up some units, then I'll continue to advance.

I decided to go calendar over aesthetics - 4 turns - I need the food/coin. Jowy sent me silk, so i'll want to send him back dye.

Also, I'm not getting the island - Jowy is clearly interested in it, which is fine.

Jowy has a stack in his south - ballistas and catapults and axes. He's going to take several Charriu cities very easily. Charriu, in fact, does not have construction, so he's going to fall apart pretty fast, not that a human handles a 2-1 a lot better than an AI does - it's generally death.

I think Jowwy hits Charriu this turn. I'll start moving in on his northern cities then, presuming that he moves some units away.

It's always a tough call as to what to do in this case. he really should balance, but if I've pissed him off or Jowy has, he might put up a big defense against me... or Jowy is winning, so he might try to block jowy more. Who knows?

A lot happened that I didn't post about.

I attacked charriu and took his jungle city. Jowy has attacked and taken 2 cities. Charriu wiped out a stack of mine. I asked him for peace. Charrius declined.

I've also settled a couple of more cities. I don't really have an attack stack at this point and charriu has cats, so he's not easy to attack.

I've started work on the shwedegon and I'm growing my cities. I expect to kick off a GA in a few turns.


btw - I really, really need to stop playing in multiple games. It screws up my reporting in both of them.

I don't think I'm long for this game.

Charriu took back his city and asked for gold and gpt for peace. I turned him down. He lost another city to Jowy - I figure he'll redirect back.

that said, if he has a couple of chariots, he can screw with me pretty hard, so that would suck.

My Cairo asked for gpt in return for OB, which I turned down, so I expect I'll get invaded in a few turns.

I think that I need to just settle in, rebuild and create some infrastructure - hope that getting big will help me.

I'll kick off my GA next turn. Problem is that I am going to need to spend the first few turns builidng up units. Also, my cities are a really long ways apart, so I can't support them all that well. I don't know that I could have done anything different, but....

I have some specific issues with this map, but I'd say that 90% of my issues in this game have been self-inflicted
