Yeah, we're not that far behind, though, because we have two cities putting culture on it - third ring for SL and fourth ring for BS. But just too far behind.

Right then, Ruff has been posting a fair bit (not as much as me, mind). He certainly had some chat in-game.

So he's going to blockade ad hoc's iron. And let us have Liberalism. Which is nice. It gives us a new plan of using it go grab Steel. So after Rifling, Compass->Optics->Chemistry->Liberalism (Steel)->Economics (if Ruff has left the Great Merchant for us).

In the north, we had rotten luck with our axe, which was shock promoted, on a jungled hill, and got beaten at 0.3% odds by a barb axe. I red-lined a CKN in revenge (at 95% odds!).

This is the rest of the north. I founded a new city, which needs to be renamed Loaded Dyes (not poker but we're tired ok). Culture being built to get the dyes into play ASAP. We're actually ok for happiness but it will be good to get them online 'cos we'll be drafting soon.

In the channel, our galley has too much to do. Two workers board this turn - they can head to Wheel, offloading next turn. A settler and missionary await the newly built galley next turn (the settler had run out of moves hence I didn't put it aboard instead of the worker). The two spare workers NW of PB can road the "city sign" so that settlers can board more quickly in future - they can hop aboard the returning galley in 2 turns.

Ruff is probably showing some of these shots, but here is his advancing army.

And ad hoc's defence. Not much. There's not much in his gold city either. I can confirm if ad hoc ever reads this (he hasn't chatted in-game for millennia) that we have not passed on any troop information to Ruff. We are just nosey.

But ad hoc isn't going to last long unfortunately. Lending that trireme won't help him but hey ho - Ruff is a good ally.

Here is a nice overview shot.

The plan is to whip as many buildings as possible next turn (without going overboard), taking advantage of OR before we revolt to Nationhood and Theocracy because of Rifling coming in. Overflow to cavs/cats.

GNP in a golden age (Krill too).

Power looking fine. TT has been building up a bit. Nothing to be afraid of since we'll be drafting rifles everywhere soon. Sailboats every turn (provided it's big enough), and three others each turn.

City count vs Ruff.

And ad hoc's city count.

I replied to Krill. Fairly non-committal. Novice suggested being a bit more straightforward and/or kinky ("Let's grind"), but I decided to be ambiguous.

I also looked at possible hiding places for our army. You can just about see in the shot above the staging tile for new troops, 2E of Speed Limit. The single-movers aren't useful there, though.

So I wondered if here would be good. I think it is hidden by the hill (based on the shot in ad hoc's lands) from Krill's sentry chariot. Only problem is that it can be seen from the sea by Krill moving a boat to the spot 2SE and back into the fog. We could move our boats 1SE and nip to that square and back to see if we can see his boats.

Anyway, just a thought. After EOT, Lucky River auto-switched to a granary (from culture), spookily obeying my sign. Governor was on - can check that off next turn.

Finally, F1 screen - no longer big enough for all of our cities. What a momentous, if slightly annoying, occasion.

But you can see that happiness is better. We have sugar, dyes and whales being hooked up in the next 5 turns too. That's 3-5 happy depending on market/pavilion availability.

Oh look, Crabs has still got some settler hammers to finish off. I knew we were building one somewhere before - just couldn't remember where.

Lots of draftable cities anyway. Priority for the new cities is to get them up to size 6 as soon as possible.

Sailboats needs a build next turn. I'd like a bigger navy in the north sea to command it and keep Krill away from iron. We'll get caravels in 3. So we can build a trireme. If it auto-upgrades, brilliant. If not, we can upgrade them ourselves.

Any questions?

No? Good.

So we completed Notre Dame last turn - that helped with the happiness. Bank in capital next turn I think. Says 3 turns but losing Bureau will affect that.

And another point I didn't draw out above was the fact that Ruff now has city visibility on everyone. His espionage economy is very effective.

Got it. And played. Fairly uneventful turn.

Krill has retreated the cats from Britannia.

Ad hoc struggles with his road network. The units shown are on the hill north of the gold city.

I moved our musket onto flatland (I should have moved it onto the jungle really, but I thought it would be safe - it should be if he hasn't moved a load of HAs up here to exactly the right square). It can move north to the jungle and await some drafted rifles next turn.

Here are our demographics. Triple the best GNP, double the best MFG and not far off double the best crop yield. I'm going to miss our golden age.

Worth a look at our capital in its last full turn of Bureau-fuelled golden age goodness. Great person in 5 turns - that will actually be 6 turns due to the golden age running out.

And here is the tech position.

Next turn is the fun one. Whips, double revolt, drafts - it will have it all.

Once we have Rifling, we can whip infra, revolt, draft. So next turn.

Hmmm, retreating the cats means there's a better possibility of doing a spy revolt and taking the city with our mounted units. Need plenty of rifles to hold the city afterwards, though, but I quite like the option.

Heh, accidental ninja edit. I hadn't read your posts when I posted. Realised I had got a turn ahead of myself.
