34V's has probably affected the game some, but diplo is stretching it.

Concur. I'd agree that having a banter thread affects the game for sure. However, to call that diplomacy is an overstatement. No deals are made. Coordination doesn't happen between players. Agreements are not negotiated. etc. etc.

Agree with Cyneheard/Dazed that 34v is an example of a pretty harmless banter thread. However, I only liked the idea because I knew the four of us could handle it. A banter thread in a 12+ player pitboss would never be free of diplomacy. Just takes one person to ruin it.

Btw, as I made my way through this thread, I couldn't help but notice the sharp uptake of lurker activity this month. 754/1520 posts were made in the last three weeks, between April 3rd and today Nearly as many as were posted in the first seven months of the game.

Yeah, were you watching the view count in our forum? The past two weeks has had our India's thread more or less double in views.

Also, while would have liked a banter thread this game, it would have changed the game, as I suspect Team 1 would have picked up on their game mechanic error.

Public diplomacy is a drastically different game than AW CTON. Combining the two is a generally bad idea and just turns into public diplo. You generally want one or the other, not some weird hybrid where the line is fuzzy and gray.
