Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Sent the save to Dave. Hope it arrived and is working.

I hope this was the grand finale.

I'm still getting the same error. Can someone send me the right set of files? I'm guessing I changed an xml or python file accidentally while looking at it in notepad.

Here's a link to my install, see if that works:

Same error message. I verified that I copied all the files to the right place.

You weren't getting the error on Miguel's randomly generated PBEM save but are now getting it on the save he created from the scenario?

Edit: Does everyone involved have the mods installed in their Program Files directory (or wherever) and not in the My Games folder in Documents, per the civfanatics thread Dave linked?

I'm stumped. I'll send a PM to Charriu, he is our resident expert on the code.

Correct on the first part. I have Civ4 installed on my mechanical drive, D:, in the root directory:

D:\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Erebus in the Balance v12.1

Maybe it only checks the C: drive?

And yes, I verified that my Mods folder under My Games is empty.

Edit: I actually loaded the file on my work computer during lunchtime, now I'm trying to load it at home. That computer only has a C: drive.

Edit 2: I just loaded miguelito's test save on this machine, so it's not a C: vs. D: problem. Somehow we still have locked assets. Can you check with a text editor whether the lock modified assets option is enabled in your worldbuilder file? I know that switching between base BtS and EitB can scramble up the options pretty severely.

This is a longshot, but are any of you using the "Beta" version of Civ IV they released years ago to enable real-time MP after the Gamespy servers shut down?

I'm not, that's only a Steam thing and my game was installed from a physical CD.

I think that might have been the problem with me and nauf at first. I can open the saves that he sends me only if I'm not using that "beta" version. But I can open the save that Miguelito sent, and old saves, using both versions.

I don't know, maybe it's because the original scenario was made by nauf using that particular version of the game? But I don't see why it would effect those not using Steam versions.
