We have a small problem. There are horses on the black dot, and I don't want to found on them

Options:
1. 1E of the horses
2. 1NE of the horses
3. Computer suggests (shows a blue circle) the hill 1N of the cows. This is indeed the best spot, which includes all available resources, and I think we can redraw a dotmap around it

Thoughts?

Okay first things first... you want to whip the forge if you can and save the chop for the colossus if possible. If there's no other choice or we have spare forests okay, but it is going to be easier to use the whip for the forge and have the forests add production to the wonder.

I like 1E of the horses better. Or on the rice? Its dry until CS and you can't even use it till IW but if we settle on it we a get a permanent 3f in the cap tile from the moment we settle it. Its worth considering. 1E of the horses grabs the cows which on grass are the same as the dry rice + hammers+ a commerce. And we have room for the yellow either W or N.

Also what are we teching? I like early Maths or on this map IW I suppose. Either of those.

There is a spare forest, and I'd prefer to shop the Forge, then whip a Granary with Forge bonus

Actually on the rice sounds good. It has cows for food, and your Cyan dot (near the oasis, signposted on the screenshot) will have crabs, so the loss of the rice farm won't be too significant

We're backfilling Fishing and Hunting at the moment, as they're cheap and necessary for the planned cities, especially Fishing. Then yes, Writing-Math-Currency, with IW squeezed in somewhere

This is what I got on loading

Do you see a reason not to accept?

Also note how many cities they have, it's certainly a big concern (we will found our 3rd this turn)

OK, I don't want to hold the turn over a minor issue, so I accepted. Free fish isn't something to sneeze at, even though we don't need it right now. They probably want to show us that they want to stay on friendly terms, and I have nothing against it; I believe I committed us to peaceful relations when I accepted the peace treaty earlier

Of course it's also possible they want to make us relax and them WC-rush, but doesn't look likely at the moment

Founded the 3rd city on the rice & ended turn

Hahaha this is Sevenspirits we're talking about, he's going to try to kill us anyway because we're the Byzantines.

Even though he's quite scary, don't let him scare you, the more you concede to him the stronger he becomes. I am of the pro-Cataphract rush NS7 faction. In fact, look at the power, the sheer number of cities makes me think he's skimping on military. There's no way for us to punish him for that, but I inevitably think we're headed towards conflict and anything that slows him down without slowing us down is better.

I'm certainly not conceding anything!

I wonder how much NS7's 5 cities hurt in maintenance, it's Emperor after all. Our 3 cities cost 8gpt at the moment. Of course, NS7 went for an early Pottery, so their economy is in better shape

They hurt for maintenance but I'd bet they're still making a profit per city. They're in a better position than we. A swift kick to prevent them from getting their cottages up and teching towards currency would hurt them alot, but I see no practical way of doing so without hurting us as well.

Yeah, exactly. The usual Oracle problem: after spending time researching sub-optimal techs, we Need More Settlers and Need More Workers. More military to slow down NS7 is definitely something we don't need

Speaking of more Settlers, I switched off rice to a mine in the Constantinople for a turn, to finish the Forge this turn. Then we'll start on a Settler for the green dot (the deer/fish/furs spot). Settler's path is already roaded, so he can get there in 1 turn; both deer and furs are in Constantinople's culture, we can and will start pre-improving them

I whipped a Granary in Thessalonica last turn, and put it on Colossus to grow. Once it regrows to 4, I'll whip a Worker

Hunting came in this turn, and I started Writing, although we'll need to collect money for a couple of turns first
